The Kansas City Chiefs originated in Texas. The Chiefs originally started as the Dallas Texans in 1960 but in 1963 was moved to Kansas City and renamed the Chiefs. They were placed in the American Football League (AFL) but could not be the Texans anymore, so they were re-monikered the “Chiefs” after the mayor of Kansas City, Harold Bartle.
