Braces are generally used to prevent injury as well as speed up the healing process and rehabilitation of ankle-based injuries. They are a lot more effective in injury prevention than using tape as tape can stretch and wear out over multiple uses.

What is an ankle brace exactly? A brace is also known as an “orthodontic” support. Braces are generally used to prevent injury as well as speed up the healing process and rehabilitation of ankle-based injuries. They are a lot more effective in injury prevention than using tape as tape can stretch and wear out over multiple uses.

There are many different brands and manufacturers for sports and rehabilitation braces out in the market. Regardless of the type of injury you have, there should be a foot or ankle brace that will help speed up your recovery time as well as prevent further injuries from occurring should you decide to go back into your sport.

The ankle brace supports are great as they’re not only light and do not limit your ankle movements, they are also extremely comfortable to wear – your foot just feels really snug in it. While some braces on the market are designed for light exercise and walking, others offer even better protection – good for people who have recovered from torn ligaments in their lower leg. Once a ligament has been ripped, even after surgery you’ll never get the same amount of stability you once had with the ankle.

Whether you have weak ankles or rolled your ankle pretty badly in the past, it is highly recommended that you wear an ankle cast if you intend to get back into your favorite sport. It’s quite affordable these days anyway and you can pick one up cheaply online (expect to fork out around $200 for a pair of maximum protection <noindex>ASO ankle braces</noindex> sports braces).

As there are so many types of ankle braces available, how do you pick the one that’s right for you? Here’s a list of things to consider.

Choosing the right brace will depend on your circumstance: have you recently twisted your ankle badly? Have you torn a ligament and had reconstructive surgery? If both the above are true, you need to get advise on the most appropriate foot wear from your doctor first.

After you have decided on what your needs are, go down to a retailer and try it on. Only you will know which part of your ankle feels the weakest and by trying on several models, you will quickly find one that fits you like a glove.

You might find that initially, the ankle brace is very restrictive and that it’s hard to move, this is because you’re simply not used to wearing something like that. Over a short period of time, the elastic material will loosen up and you will forget that you’re even wearing an ankle cast.

If you want extra information concerning the <noindex>Aircast Airsport ankle brace</noindex>, we have done all the research for your viewing pleasure.

Ankle sprains are so common as the ankle muscle is one of the weakest in the entire human body. It is vital that you prevent weak ankles via strengthening exercises, even if you’re not into serious sports.

There are plenty of exercises created specifically for ankle strengthening and you will find them readily available in the sporting books section in your local library. If you have weak ankles, any sudden shift in your body weight could over-stretch the ligaments in your ankles, and it would take a long time to heal.

The most common ankle sprains are seen in sports that require sudden movements such as tennis. Other sports that require a lot of jumping can put strain on the lower leg as well and also increase the risks of ankle injury. Having strong ankles if you are into these type of sports is very important.

Studies have shown that using ankle supports such as tape, can drastically reduce the occurrences of ankle sprains. However, it’s not as simple as just getting some tape and mummifying your foot, there is a proper way to wrap your ankles in tape and if you are interested you should do some research or buy a book on how to bandage your foot the correct way.

The down sides to using ankle tapes is that the tape is not cheap and needs to be replaced ever so often. They need to be washed and dried after every use and this causes the tape to lose its effectiveness after a while as it tends to get stretched. There are alternative solutions to this though as we shall soon see.

Professional grade ankle braces are now available and although they’re quite a lot more costly than tape, you’ll never have to replace it. They are extremely comfortable to wear inside your shoe and don’t take nearly as long as tape to put on. All you have to do is slip your foot in, strap it up tight, and put on your shoe and you’re ready to go.

The Aircast and <noindex>ASO ankle brace</noindex> are just two of the many brands available on the market and both of these are top of the line and come in many different models for different types of sporting activities. What they all have in common is that they’re extremely quick to put on, add a much higher amount of support for your ankle and also reduce the risks of serious ankle injuries that take a long period of time to recover from.

Foot supports such as the Aircast ankle braces are important but don’t forget that you will need to also do ankle strengthening exercises such as heel lifts and rope skipping (just to name a few). Don’t only rely on the foot supports alone for your injury prevention. This is especially true if you’re serious about your sport because once you have pulled a ligament, your ankle will never be the same again.

In the event that you want more details concerning the <noindex>Aircast ankle brace</noindex>, we have provided a great article for you.
