A little renown football merchandise manufacturer Puma wanted to create attention in the world cup yet they did not have enough money to be able to do this. This made them to design a special message where they had it specially designed and they really wanted it to reach far and wide. The message read love.

They were able to plan well on how to be able to make an impact in the world cup by making a viral advertisement which they knew would be able to capture a large audience. They were able to create two viral videos which they wanted to use to be able to attract the fans to their brand.

This idea was decided upon by their marketing manager Brett Bellinger who knew it would not be easy to make their stage presence felt in the international arena since they are a small brand with limited funds unless they had to pull out something unique such as the viral videos.

These videos were able to attract large response from the people especially through the social networks since it was available on you tube. The video was designed in such a way that one of the helicopters flew right on top of the stadiums.

Beside the stadium, different cars had been arranged just next to the stadium parked to illustrate the love=football campaign.

This video accompanied with another one was able to receive large overwhelming response from the blog messages that were posted on the sites concerning the advert and how they easily determined it was the puma brand even without the video being branded to belong to puma.

The team that worked on the advertisement was conscious of the FIFA regulations so they had to make their advertisement in such a way that FIFA would not penalize them or ask them to pay just like other brands that wanted their presence to be felt in the stadium.

The advertisement was not easy especially for the agency Gloo who were in charge of the advertising and were competing with such brands such as Nike, Adidas and Umbro whom already had their presence felt by the merchandise which both the players and the fans were wearing.

Besides Puma, this author additionally frequently shares writing on online dating tips and how to save a marriage.

Not a very well know brand is Puma in the football field you may say. But there effort for recognition in through the world cup has really been outstanding. Their idea of love=football campaign got the attention of many viewers worldwide.

They launched 2 videos which were focused on the fans and their love for the game. This proved to be a real good step in Puma gaining some attention and eventually proved to be a good success. These videos were not too costly but made a huge profit for Puma.

For a small brand like Puma, it is very difficult to gain attention at a period such as the world cup. The marketing manger Brett Bellinger suggested a viral campaign that could really create a little positive disturbance.

The main video was quite simple but effective. The video uploaded to You Tube was really gained a lot of attention. It was a simple video made from a tourist helicopter flying over one of the South Africa’s football stadium while touring. The video did its work for the Puma and it has many views on you tube.

The vehicles outside the stadium were arranged to create an icon of football love. This shows the spirit of the football lovers in the game.

An anonymous video was also posted during this time. The video did gain a lot off attention. It was proved later on by journalists that this was a part of the Puma brand that did it.

The agency was smart enough to avoid any conflict with FIFA’s regulations about filming something unofficial. By filming unofficial they avoided huge marketing investments like Adidas had to bear. Adidas had to pay 250m just to be official football provider.

Gloo undertook the negotiations with FIFA. This was not easy as many big brands already had a lot of big players holding their merchandise.

The branding competition has been claimed by Adidas after their boots scored more goals in the South Africa World Cup than any other brand. Players sporting the new Adidas F50 Adizero scored a total 41 goals during the competition.

Their lucrative deal will allow one of their most successful tracks ‘fire’ to be used in the title sequences of every match over the next three years. If this was only a deal for the UK, it would still be incredibly valuable but the league plans to use the song on every game it shows in the 200 countries it broadcasts.

Competing with bitter rivals Nike, the company splashed over 400 million US dollars on the campaign which included designing and producing the controversial Jubilani ball. However Nike stole much of the attention at the last minute with their ‘write the future’ campaign which was viewed more than 15 million times on YouTube alone.

The campaign received particular buzz in the social media world, gaining hundreds of thousands of views on Youtube. The main video was of a tourist helicopter tour of South Africa, where they flew over one of the stadiums. Next to the stadium was a large collection of vehicles which, when positioned next to the stadium, created the love = football icon.

The band are no strangers to the world of football, earlier in 2010 singer Tom Meighan launched Umbro’s England World Cup Kit and their music is regularly used on TV, especially Match of The Day and Sky Sports.

Although Nike made the effort to sponsor individual high profile players, they unfortunately backed the wrong horse. Their ‘write the future’ ad was undoubtedly the most successful viral campaign but there was one thing Nike couldn’t control.

The campaign was undertaken by marketing agency Gloo who were given the difficult brief of dealing with the rigorous FIFA regulations whilst being up against sporting giants such as Nike, Adidas and Umbro, all of whom had key players sporting their own merchandise.

Puma have managed some endorsement success with their successful Puma King football boot. They narrowly missed out on producing the new Liverpool football shirt

Watching sports is one of the biggest past times in the world. Particularly popular with men, women love sports too. Like most competitive things, there are winners and losers in sport. The event occurring as a individual or team sport, a single or series of matches decide the outcome. As well as financial prices, for the winners, jewellery, medals or cups made from materials such as gold and silver are given.

The price could be something that the team or the individual keeps for life. In some sports, it is an item that is returned to the sporting authorities who in turn give the price to a new team or individual should the incumbent lose the following match or the proceeding season. In situations where the price is not for the winner to keep forever, other smaller items to celebrate the win are given. These commemorative items the property of the sports person and often are in the form of jewellery such as lockets or pendants.

While sportsmen and women are competing, it is common to see them wearing jewellery in addition to the uniforms required to take part in the sporting event. While these items are not required to partake in the event itself, they are worn as a result of commercial endorsement. Companies pay from a few hundred to millions of dollars for the players to wear their jewellery. It is means of marketing the products and the company. Fans see these items worn by the influential stars and they in turn buy the items.

There are also arguments to suggest wearing certain types of jewellery help in the field of play by increasing energy levels. for example Phiten is a manufacture who claim wearing their brand of jewellery help bring balance to players while in the melting pot of the playing field. They use various metals such as titanium which some claim has positive health effects but there is no scientific reasoning to justify the claim.

Whether jewellery is endorsed by sport stars or not, it is is great accessory for
anyone to wear. Whether it is a bracelet , chain or ring, it can certainly make the person look more attractive.

One great jewellery for men are the 9ct gold chains. They are inexpensive and look really good, click the following link: 9ct gold chain to find out more.

Edmonton Gains Sole Possession of First Place In CFL West With Win Over Stamps http://www.footballfansworld.net/2010/04/eskimos-outlast-stampeders-in-wild-cfl-matchup/ http://www.footballfansworld.net/2010/04/eskimos-outlast-stampeders-in-wild-cfl-matchup/#comments Thu, 29 Apr 2010 08:11:50 +0000 Ross Everett http://www.footballfansworld.net/2010/04/eskimos-outlast-stampeders-in-wild-cfl-matchup/ Yet Another Related Posts Plugin.]]> The Edmonton Eskimos survived a wild back and forth CFL shootout against the Calgary Stampeders before prevailing 38-35 to take over sole possession of first place in the CFL West. Ricky Ray hit Fred Stamps with a 23 yard touchdown pass with just nine seconds to play to earn the victory, erasing the lead that Calgary had earned with their own TD pass less than a half minute earlier. Edmonton improved to 4-3 with the win, while Calgary dropped to 3-4.

Winning QB Ricky Ray said that he enjoyed playing in the shootout:

“That was a ton of fun. In the CFL you get to play in a lot of games like this, especially against a guy like (Calgary quarterback Henry) Burris, who has done this to us. It’s great to come out on the winning end of a shoot-out like that. It’s a great uplift for the team. It’s a huge win for us.”

With a bye week on deck, Eskimos head coach Richie Hall said that the outcome couldnt have been timed any better:

“Regardless of what happens, we are coming back in first place. Now we have one up on Calgary. It’s going to be a dogfight for all the teams in the West and any chance you get to win, especially a win like this, it’s a real bonus. It’s great for our confidence.”

Calgarys Burris remembered a very similar game last year where Edmonton won by the same margin on a last play touchdown:

“They got us last year in this situation and of course you didn’t think it was going to happen again or even could happen again. It felt so great to get that late touchdown and with 38 seconds on the clock nobody was even thinking about last year. We had to stop Jackson and we didn’t. And we had to stop Ray and we didn’t. Kudos to Edmonton.”

Calgary returns to action on Aug. 28 in Toronto while the Eskimos will next play on Aug. 29 when they host Hamilton. The two CFL provincial rivals from Alberta will face each other twice more this season.

Favre passed for 271 yards and three touchdowns as the Vikings prevailed by a 30-23 final score. With the victory, Favre has now defeated all 32 NFL teams during his Hall of Fame career. The Vikings improved to 4-0, while the Packers dropped to 2-2.

The Vikings rewarded NFL betting enthusiasts by covering the spread as -4 home favorites. Minnesota is now 3-1 against the number, while the Packers loss evened their ATS record on the season at 2-2. The 53 points scored went OVER the posted total of 46.

Afterwards , Favre said that he didnt have any unusual emotions playing against his old team:

“I don’t know how to explain it. I felt right, but I guess I never thought I’d be in that situation.”

He had gone out of his way to downplay the significance of the matchup:

“My statement has been what I’ve done over my career. One game does not define my career good or bad. I know what I’ve done. I’m proud of what I’ve done. I know I can play. I wanted to do what it takes to win.”

Teammate Adrian Peterson said that the team understood the games importance:

“I definitely wanted to get this win for Brett. He downplayed it all week, but I just knew it meant a lot to him. I could see it in his eyes.”

Packers cornerback Charles Woodson gave credit to Favre, but then admitted that his team didnt help themselves with their effort:

“I don’t think there was any question what he could do when he came back. But you know, we didn’t do ourselves any justice.”

Favres replacement under center in Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers, had a rough night. He was sacked eight times and threw an interception and after the game was critical of his performance:

“Below my expectations, definitely. To have three possessions where you’re in their territory and come away with zero points, two of them are directly related to mistakes by myself, that’s disappointing.”

Vikings coach Brad Childress was impressed with Favres poise in the face of all the media focus on playing his former team:

“You don’t want quarterback crying coming out of the locker room. He was great.”

The Vikings will your head to St. Louis to play one of the NFLs worst teams this weekend, the St. Louis Rams. Minnesota has been installed as a -10 favorite with the total set at 39. The Packers will take this weekend off before hosting the Detroit Lions on October 18th. Theyll play at Cleveland the following Sunday before a return date with the Vikings at Lambeau Field on November 1st.

This liability cost offensive coordinator Chan Gailey his job earlier in the week, but in the first game with head coach Todd Haley calling the plays it was more of the same as the Chiefs couldn’t find the end zone. St. Louis scored an offensive touchdown late in the first half and used a third quarter interception return for a score to beat Kansas City 17-9. The Chiefs finished the NFL preseason with a winless 0-4 record, while St. Louis posted a 3-1 mark.

NFL preseason betting aficionados who took a flier on the Rams were rewarded by their outright victory in the pickem game. Kansas City also finished 0-4 against the spread, while St. Louis finished 3-1 to the number.

Despite his teams continued offensive struggles, Haley tried to put a positive spin on his playcalling debut:

“I made a few mistakes out there but overall it felt good. Obviously, there were a couple of plays I would like to have back. After I got the feel a little bit, I didn’t feel too out of sync with the game and what was going on. I thought our defense gave us a chance to win. Running the football is something we can feel good about.”

The Chiefs moved the ball well, generating 406 yards of total offense but had trouble converting in the red zone. They also turned the ball over three times, the most costly a third quarter interception thrown by reserve QB Tyler Thigpen and returned for a touchdown. Afterwards, the Rams Quincy Butler suggested that his team has a new mindset:

“Every time the ball’s in the air, we all think ‘It’s my ball. We all go and get it.”

Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo was generally pleased with his teams effort in the victory:

“It was good to get those guys back in the swing. Now we’ve just got to get Marc (Bulger) cranked up.”

Bulger has missed most of the preseason but is expected to start in the Rams regular season opener. Spagnuolo wasnt particularly concerned about all of the yardage his team gave up:

“The silver lining is the defense held them and got them to kick a field goal. So there’s some good and bad always.”

St. Louis will head to the Pacific Northwest next Sunday as they open their regular season against the Seattle Seahawks. The Chiefs will also open the NFL 2009 campaign on the road, heading to Baltimore to take on the Ravens.

New Orleans Wins First Superbowl In Franchise History http://www.footballfansworld.net/2010/02/new-orleans-wins-first-superbowl-in-franchise-history/ http://www.footballfansworld.net/2010/02/new-orleans-wins-first-superbowl-in-franchise-history/#comments Fri, 19 Feb 2010 10:29:23 +0000 Ross Everett http://www.footballfansworld.net/2010/02/new-orleans-wins-first-superbowl-in-franchise-history/ Yet Another Related Posts Plugin.]]> The New Orleans Saints used a 14 point fourth quarter to defeat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 on Sunday to win their first Superbowl in franchise history. Drew Brees broke open a tight game midway through the final quarter with his touchdown pass to Jeremy Shockey, and Tracy Porter scored on a 74 yard interception return as the Colts were driving on the next series to secure the victory. Brees was named Superbowl MVP on the basis of his 288 yard, 2 touchdown, 0 interception performance. He completed 32 passes in the game, tying New England’s Tom Brady for the all time record in that category.

After enthusiasts had come in early on the favored Colts, a good deal of buyback on the Saints had pushed the line to -4′ and the New Orleans backers were enriched by their team’s outright victory. The underdog has now covered three straight Superbowls and taken the money in five of the last seven games. The 48 points scored stayed well under the posted total of 57.

In his postgame comments, a fabulously elated Brees gave much of the credit to the city of New Orleans:

“We play for so much more than ourselves. We played for our city. We played for the entire Gulf Coast region. We played for the entire Who Dat nation that has been behind us every step of the way. It means everything. We’re here because of their strength and everything they fought through here the last few years. They’ve given us so much support, so we owe it all to our fans.”

“Just to think of the road we’ve all traveled, the adversity we’ve all faced. It’s unbelievable. I mean, are you kidding me? Four years ago, whoever thought this would be happening? Eighty-five percent of the city was under water. Most people left not knowing if New Orleans would ever come back, or if the organization would ever come back. We just all looked at one another and said, ‘We’re going to rebuild together. We are going to lean on each other.’ That’s what we’ve done the last four years and this is the culmination in all that belief.”

Peyton Manning had little to say after the game particularly about the interception return that sealed the victory for New Orleans:

“Made a great play. Made a great play. Corner made a heck of a play. Certainly disappointing, very disappointing. Disappointing.”

Saints’ coach Sean Payton made a bold call at the beginning of the second half when he called for an onside kick. New Orleans recovered and linebacker Jonathan Casalis suggested it was a game changing play:

“We were really excited when he made the call. That changed everything.”

    Payton explained the unorthodox decision:

“We’re going to be aggressive. We’d seen the onside kick all week and guys executed it well. It turned out to be a big change of possession.”

The city of New Orleans will celebrate their team’s victory with a parade. With Mardi Gras celebrations already scheduled to begin shortly thereafter, it could be quite some time before New Orleans returns to business as usual.

CFL Canadian Football For The American NFL Football Fan http://www.footballfansworld.net/2009/10/cfl-canadian-football-for-the-american-nfl-football-fan/ http://www.footballfansworld.net/2009/10/cfl-canadian-football-for-the-american-nfl-football-fan/#comments Tue, 27 Oct 2009 18:06:24 +0000 Ross Everett http://www.footballfansworld.net/2009/10/cfl-canadian-football-for-the-american-nfl-football-fan/ Yet Another Related Posts Plugin.]]> Its that time of the year again”Americans are getting ready for football. In a few months NFL teams will be opening training camp and college football teams starting practice. Up north, however, the footballs are already flying as pro football is in full swing up in Canada with the Canadian Football League (CFL).

American football fans may not realize just how long and storied the history of Canadian pro football CFL style actually is. The league has been around since 1930 and the Grey Cup championship (essentially the CFL Superbowl) has been in existence since 1909. Many NFL stars got their start in the CFL including Doug Flutie, Jim Kelly, and Jeff Garcia.

The CFL is a very professional and highly competitive league, but its important to understand some important differences between it and the NFL:

The most obvious difference is the football itself–the CFL football is longer and fatter than the NFL ball. The CFL still has their goal posts on the goal line, which the NFL moved to the back of the end zone years ago. The field is 10 yards longer and 12 yards wider than the NFL field, and the CFL end zones are 20 yards deep instead of the NFL’s 10 yards.

CFL teams are allowed to have 12 players on the field at a time, one more than is standard in American football. The extra offensive player is a wide receiver, and on defense they’re allowed an extra defensive back. CFL teams allow a team only three downs to move ten yards as opposed to four in the US game–references to a team going “two and out” are common on CFL broadcasts.

A major difference in the scoring is the ’single’ which awards CFL teams one point for a kick–usually a punt or missed field goal–that lands in the end zone. This will frequently produce partial game scores of 1-0 or 1-1 that are impossible in the US game.

The rule differences also extend into the front office, where teams are required to have a certain quota of their roster be Canadian born. In an effort to prevent the CFL from becoming an NFL farm system, and to protect the unique identity of Canadian football 19 of the 40 players on the roster must be natives.

Many US football fans look at the rules that include more players, a wider field, and fewer downs meant to encourage more passing and expect to see a wide open high scoring style of play similar to Arena Football. That’s not really how it works out–most games end up with final score totals in the 40’s, but the game itself really isn’t much more offensively oriented than its American counterpart. The rules may be different, but as in the NFL you need a solid rushing game and a stout defense to win games and championships.

Furthermore, the parity that you see in the NFL where on any given Sunday any team can beat any other team is magnified in the CFL. The primary reason is the rules mandating Canadian native players. I dont think itll offend any Canadians if I suggest that football is played at a higher level in American high schools and colleges. That means that at least 50% of each team is of essentially equal level of talents. Now that may be a bit of an oversimplification”certainly there are differing levels of talent among Canadian players”but the Canadian native rules do serve to further codify the inherent tendency toward parity that you see in most professional sports.

Considering the 21 non- Canadians on the team, its also important to remember that the CFL doesnt get the pick of the litter of American football talent. Certainly those who have the ability are in the NFL, or on an NFL practice or developmental squad. While some players are uniquely suited for the CFL game”former Clemson University QB Nealon Greene, for example, who couldnt make the NFL but has had a lengthy career in Canada”most of the Americans in the CFL are players whose ability just isnt up to NFL levels. Remember Vince McMahons failed XFL experiment? That gives a good indication of the type of American player that ends up in Canada.

Despite the differences between the CFL and American football, at the end of the day its still high level, professional football. Once you understand the unique aspects of the CFL, it’ll become second nature much as NFL viewers quickly assimilate rule changes there.

Before the Internet became ubiquitous, it wasn’t easy for an American fan to keep up with the CFL. While they still don’t receive coverage on ESPN, the Internet affords access to the sports media of every CFL city along with the national Canadian sports media at sites like Slam! Sports. The CFL’s official site is also a great source of news, stats and information on Canadian football.

Steelers Win 12th Straight Over Browns http://www.footballfansworld.net/2009/10/steelers-continue-dominance-of-browns/ http://www.footballfansworld.net/2009/10/steelers-continue-dominance-of-browns/#comments Tue, 27 Oct 2009 18:05:40 +0000 Ross Everett http://www.footballfansworld.net/2009/10/steelers-continue-dominance-of-browns/ Yet Another Related Posts Plugin.]]> The Pittsburgh Steelers have been playing the Cleveland Browns for longer than any other team in the National Football League, dating back to 1950. And while it hasn’t been quite that long since the Cleveland Browns won a game against the Steelers it may be starting to feel like it. On Sunday, Pittsburgh won for the twelfth straight time dating back to 2003 as they topped Cleveland by a final score of 27-13. The defending Superbowl champions improved to 4-2 while the Browns fell to 1-5.

The good news for NFL betting enthusiasts who took the +13′ with the Browns as a road underdog is that they managed to cover the pointspread by the slimmest of possible margins. Betting against the defending Superbowl champion is a long standing handicapping concept, and this season at least its worked like a charm-the Steelers have only covered one of their first six games. Cleveland, meanwhile, evened their NFL pointspread record at 3-3 on the season. The Browns have covered three straight after dropping their first three both straight up and against the spread. The 40 combined points went OVER the posted total of 37′. Pittsburgh has now gone OVER in four straight after starting the season with two UNDERs while the Browns evened their NFL totals mark at 3-3.

Pittsburgh dominated the game in virtually every statistical category. They amassed 28 first downs to 12 for Cleveland, held a 543 to 197 total yardage advantage and a 36:46 to 23:14 time of possession advantage. Both teams turned the ball over four times, and the Steelers led only 17-14 in the third quarter. Most of the post game talk from both sides was about a controversial spot in the first half where the Steelers were given a first down on a short yardage play when it appeared that they didn’t make the required yardage.

After the contest, Derek Anderson spoke of the frustration of continually coming up short against the Steelers. The Browns have only one once in ten games since Pittsburgh moved into their new home at Heinz Field:

“We’re not trying to lose every time we go out here. We put tons of hours in and … it’s frustrating. Every single week, it’s frustrating.”

Steelers’ tight end Heath Miller said the team is happy to be where they are at this point despite not playing up to their standards:

“I think we haven’t played our best ball yet and that’s pretty comforting. We’ve gotten a few wins here without playing our best.”

The Steelers will host Brett Favre and the 6-0 Minnesota Vikings next Sunday. After a bye week, the Steelers will hit the road to play another undefeated team as they take on the Denver Broncos on Monday, November 9. Cleveland will host the Green Bay Packers this Sunda. They’ll head to ‘The Windy City’ to face the Chicago Bears the following Sunday and then have a bye week.
