After a spate of recent horrific and possibly career ending injuries in football, an investigation is taking place into the likelihood of the injuries being caused by the football boots a player wears. The inquest is to focus on the connection to the modern ‘blades’ fitted on some boots as opposed to the regular studs.

Senior Adidas marketing directors claimed that 2010 has been their most successful campaign but have released no figures. Australian marketing director Simon Millar noted that it would be foolish to measure sales just yet as “most people buy their footy boots at the start of the season”.

It is argued that modern turf is also to blame as it is much firmer, stronger and less fragile than it used to be, meaning grass or soil is not disrupted by impact. A combination of tough turf and bladed studs could be the problem.

The leading advert features Sunderland striker Darren Brent who is currently under sponsorship with Umbro. It is the first major endorsement Brent has taken part in despite his appearances for the England squad and an extensive professional career.

The campaign is to promote the lightest ever football boots the Umbro GT which weigh only 238 grams. The theme of the ads revolves around the speed the boots can achieve being so light but also reflects the series of bright colours the boots are available in.

Although Nike made the effort to sponsor individual high profile players, they unfortunately backed the wrong horse. Their ‘write the future’ ad was undoubtedly the most successful viral campaign but there was one thing Nike couldn’t control. One by one the star players featured in the ads fell victim to what became known as the ‘Nike curse’ and were knocked out of the competition, a complete branding disaster. It seems in choosing to endorse some of the world’s biggest premiership players Nike had neglected to consider the most successful teams and thus lost the branding race.

The new Nike Mercurial is supposed to get rid of this issue. Valencia is without his Manchester United Football Shirt for at least the next season.

Depending on the type of injury and the extent of your injury, you may need physical therapy. Physical therapy is the process of rehabilitation and recovery from your injury or physical ailment. Most of the programs require stretching and massage for flexibility and exercise for strength. They use specialized equipment in order to target specific areas or individual muscles. Massage chairs are particularly effective in loosening tight areas and enhancing blood circulation.

If you are a professional athlete, then your goals are going to be different than if you play sport occasionally. Stretching helps to elongate the muscles. This helps to stretch the muscles helping their elasticity. A frequent and continuous regimen of daily stretching helps to speed recovery. Your therapist will design a stretching routine which will help focus on restoring the range of motion.

When you are injured, your body knows to shift work to other areas that are not affected. So certain areas are not used for most activities. The muscles that are not used will atrophy. They will start to lose strength. The body adapts to the situation. To reverse this process, your therapist will start you on an exercise program. The exercise program is usually designed to start off slow, but steady. The program may work muscle groups together or may work on individual muscles. The treatments are designed to bring all the elements together for full strength recover.

Some of the problems encountered in the physical recovery process are scar tissue. Scar tissue forms harder than the original tissue. This needs recurring kneading and pressing massage to restore flexibility. The muscle tissue breaks down into shorter lengths when physically stressed. The muscles tissues need the fibers to be elongated to restore further flexibility. Massage therapy targets these two important areas. Some physical therapy clinics use massage therapists and may also use massage chairs. In either case, the focus is on increasing the longer term flexibility. Massage therapy is effective in loosening the muscles and scar tissue while increasing the blood and nutrient flow accelerate the healing process.

If you push your limits, you may sometimes go too far and suffer an injury. Or they may just happen. Either way, you just want to be fully recovered. The physical therapies being offered utilize top notch technology and methodologies. From massage chair recliners to treadmills, you will be exposed to a range of treatments designed for your full recovery.
