Show Your Tiger Pride with Clemson Checks

March 9th, 2010

Are you a dedicated fan of the Clemson Tigers? Would you like to make your personal bank checks more attractive? If you have Paw Power, then you might want to consider carrying Clemson University personal checks. In addition to giving your checks some individuality, you can also show the world your Tiger pride.

A public university located in Clemson, South Carolina, Clemson University has students from all 50 states and from 89 countries from around the world. When it comes to athletics, the Clemson Tigers have one of the most loyal groups of followers out there.

The Tiger Paw logo that the school uses has been used since 1970. It was, in reality, fashioned from the mold of a real Bengal Tiger that lived in the St. Louis Zoo. It is the hook located at the bottom of the paw in the logo that proves that it is the trademark for the university.

The Tigers football team won 2 Southern Conferences before it joined the ACC. Today, it is the leader among ACC schools when it comes to conference championships at 13. They have won 15 bowl games over the years and participated in 30.

The men’s football team plays their homes games at Memorial Stadium. Supporters of the Tigers warmly refer to Memorial Stadium and the Frank Howard Field as “Death Valley.”

Before the start of every home game, the team members get themselves into buses and drive to the top of the hill where they rub “Howard’s Rock”, a rock that came all the way from Death Valley. Subsequently, as the Tiger Rag is loudly played and a canon’s sound penetrates the air, the team members run jubilantly down the hill and into the field while the thousands of fans cheer for them. Sportscaster Brent Musburger has called this pre-game act the most exciting 25 seconds in college football.

Now, you, too, can show off your team spirit simply by carrying the Clemson University personal bank checks. These checks will not only show your team pride, but will let everyone know what your favorite college team is.

There are two types of checks to select from if you want the world to know that you have Tiger pride. If you are one of those fans that counts down the days until the big game and isn’t afraid to paint your face orange, then the Clemson University #1 Fan checks might be the checks for you.

The Clemson Logo checks are orange with the paw print design in the center of the check itself. In addition to the checks, you can also purchase coordinating accessories such as matching address labels and a debit wallet to go along with the checks.

Keep in mind that by ordering your checks online from a safe site you can actually save as much as 50% off of the price of the checks. You will also have a wider selection of checks than your local bank might offer. You can usually expect to receive your checks in the mail in around 5 days.

Before your purchase Clemson checks, go to ClemsonChecks.com to get coupon codes and to save 50% off your next order of Clemson University checks.

Cowboys Open NFL Season With Win Over Bucs

March 8th, 2010

Tony Romo passed for a NFL career best 353 yards and threw three touchdown passes as the Dallas Cowboys got their 2009 season off to a good start with a 34-21 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Raheem Morris went down in defeat in his debut as Bucs head coach, while the Cowboys answered a lot of questions about how their receiving corps would respond to the absence of Terrell Owens, now with the Buffalo Bills.

The Cowboys easily covered the pointspread as -4 road favorites, and improved to 16-12 over the last three years when laying points. Tampa Bay dropped to 17-17 over the same timeframe as an underdog. The 55 combined points went OVER the posted total of 39. Dallas has gone OVER in 20 of their last 34 lined games.

After the game Roy Williams, who will be counted on to take up the slack from the loss of T.O., couldnt resist a wisecrack at his former teammates expense:

“Career-high passing yards? Without T.O? “No, it’s good. It’s good for him. It’s good for this team. It was a team effort. Everybody contributed.”

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said he wasnt surprised at the effort turned in by his wide receivers:

“They are playmakers, and we knew that going in. But until you do it, the naysayers are going to say: ‘Hey. You don’t have this or that.’ But I think we do.”

Romo, meanwhile, preferred to focus on the victory instead of his personal output:

“You don’t think about yards. You’re not judged off of yards. You’re judged off of winning and losing at this position.”

Raheem Morris was still upbeat despite going down to defeat in his regular season NFL coaching debut:

“Obviously, we’re disappointed. But there were a lot of good things on offense.”

Perhaps the brightest silver lining in the dark cloud of the loss was the performance of Cadillac Williams. Williams appeared fully recovered from two knee surgeries in a little over a year, and rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown.

Bucs cornerback Ronde Barber suggested that the final score wasnt indicative of the way his team played:

“We had our chances. The final score is definitely not indicative of how good we played at times. Those big plays absolutely destroy you football team.

The Cowboys will open their season at their plush new $1 billion plus stadium this Sunday, hosting the New York Giants. The Bucs will head to upstate New York to face T.O and his new team, the Buffalo Bills. Theyll return to Florida the following week to take their turn hosting the New York Giants.

Do Fantasy Leagues Do More Bad Than Advantages?

March 6th, 2010

One of my hobbies is playing fantasy sports leagues. I’ve playing for a while now and have fantasy teams in baseball, basketball and football. I’ve also tried other basic, sports based games.

I find this a very enjoyable hobby, and get a real buzz from managing my virtual team. Buying, selling, and being the boss gives me a lot of pleasure. I’ve always wanted to own a sports team and now I have 3, even if they aren’t real!

A word of warning though, this is very addictive. I’m constantly checking results and stats and seeing how the competition is doing. I find I’m doing this on a daily basis at least, and pressing refresh an awful lot!

Are the addictive qualities of these games bad for you? Well I personally don’t think s, but then I wouldn’t, would I? It does take up a huge amount of my time and If there are no new stats I find myself watching games I have no interest in, and checking other results to see of my team is affected.

I mentioned a lot of positives about playing these leagues earlier, and here’s another big one; it incites our competitive spirit, which is what playing sports is all about. We follow our teams in reality, so what is wrong with following these ones?

I will admit to certain periods of obsession over how my players are performing and whether or not they have the best interests of the team at heart. This has often taken precedence over the actual results.

Like many of us, I have favorite teams in real life that I have been a fan of since childhood. Why now, for the first time ever, is my allegiance being tested by teams that don’t even exist? If fixtures clash I’m in the horrible situation of having to choose between them.

Do I have a problem? Well if I do there are millions of us. This is a topic for hot debate by many sports enthusiasts.

Stamps Beat Bombers In Crucial CFL Tilt

March 3rd, 2010

The Calgary Stampeders used a solid all around game from running back Joffrey Reynolds to beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 31-23 at McMahon Stadium in weekend CFL action. The victory evened the Stamps record at 3-3 on the season. The Blue Bombers dropped to 2-4 with the setback. Winnipeg will need to dramatically improve on that lackluster record if they’re to have any hope of advancing to the Canadian Football League postseason.

Reynolds ran for one touchdown and caught another to pace the Stampeders offensive attack. After the game, he received praise from veteran CFL QB Henry Burris:

“Joffrey, he’s been an animal. He’s a proven professional. To me, he’s the best running back in the league and he shows it game in and game out.”

Reynolds displayed impressive humility as he accepted Burris compliment:

“Any time that you can be mentioned with great players in this franchise and in this league, you’ve got to be happy about that. I’m just trying to play good football and just help us win games.”

Winnipeg running back Fred Reid rushed for a pair of touchdowns, but realizes that his team needs to compete for 60 minutes if they want to win games in the CFL:

“We have to play four quarters. The slow start hurt us. We played hard and came back in the second half. I wish we could have pulled it out. We have to keep fighting.”

Calgary safety Wes Lysack praised the competitive toughness of the Blue Bombers:

“Give credit to them. They gave us a heck of a fight, but we found a way to get a win. Wins are hard to come by in the CFL.”

The Stampeders travel to Edmonton for a Thursday night game against the Eskimos. Winnipeg will return home on Saturday to face the CFLs best team, the Montreal Alouettes.

Montreal Remains Atop CFL With Hard Fought Win Over Saskatchewan

March 3rd, 2010

The Montreal Alouettes withstood a tough challenge from the Saskatchewan Roughriders to win their 7th game of the season by a 34-25 margin. Montreal remained atop the CFL with a 7-1 record, while the Roughriders slipped to 4-4. Als rookie QB Chris Leak scored the winning points with a touchdown on the first play of his CFL career.

After the game, Leak focused on earning the trust of his teammates:

“It’s a about trust – that’s the number one thing. I’m just happy for the opportunity to earn the trust of the coaches and my teammates.”

The Alouettes swept the season series from Saskatchewan, having won 43-10 in Regina in early July. Saskatchewan has only won twice in their past eleven trips to Montreal.

The Roughriders held the edge in most of the statistical categories, but were undone by turnovers and a failure to cash in on drives deep into Als territory. Saskatchewan starting QB Darian Durant willingly accepted the blame for the loss, but Riders coach Ken Miller said in his postgame comments that there was plenty of responsibility to go around:

“It’s a team game and the fault doesn’t lie with any individual. Darian played probably his best. He turned the ball over three times, but he made plays with his feet and was a leader for us. I’m really proud of the way the men battled, but our team still needs to be tuned up some.”

Durants favorite target on the day was Weston Dressler, who caught eight passes for 179 yards and after the game gave a glass half full assessment of his teams performance:

“We were in it until the end. I think we showed we can complete with the best team in the league and I think we just have to keep working at it. We’re really close to being a great football team.”

Montreal returns to action on Friday, September 4th as they travel to Vancouver to play the BC Lions. The two teams will rematch at Montreals Molson Stadium the following week. Saskatchewan will return to action on Sunday, September 6th as they host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The 2010 World Cup Is being awaited by millions of people all around the planet. If you are lucky enough to come from one of the nations to progress to the finals in the summer, you will want to be sure you get behind your team in full. An easy way to express your support and allegiance would be to get hold of soccer world cup jerseys.

The world cup is hosted every four years, usually on a different continent each time. It is the only event which surpasses the Olympics in global viewing figures. When your country plays a game in the competition you will notice that ordinary life may come to a complete halt, and to an even greater degree if they are able to progress to the latter stages of the competition. Even if you’re from a country that didn’t make it to these finals, such as unlucky Ireland, then you will still end up watching a lot of games and getting behind a particular team.

All the teams taking part in the 2010 South Africa event have designed new home and away kits just for the occasion. It does not matter what your size or age you can find an authentic option that is a perfect fit.

Always go for world cup jerseys made by the famous manufacturers like Nike, Reebok, Adidas or Umbro. They are made of high quality and will last for a number of years. If your team does go on to win the event then a jersey would be an excellent memento of their glory.

When it comes to picking an individual shirt you can choose to have a certain player’s name and number displayed across the back. Why not opt for a shirt with Beckham, Rooney, or Gerrard’s names in bold print. As many pundits are suggesting this could be England’s time to repeat their victory in 1966, such jerseys may be worth more after the event than before.

The best place to check out the latest 2010 soccer jerseys is over the net. Your local retail store may not give you the options you desire. Online you are guaranteed to find the right design and size.

Now is the perfect time to start wearing your team’s colors. The closer we get to the event the more chance there will be of a shortage of world cup jerseys.

Colts Slip Past Jags In NFL Opener

February 28th, 2010

The Indianapolis Colts, finding their offense shut down by a relentless Jacksonville Jaguars attack, fought back in kind. The often maligned Indy stop unit matched the ferocity of their Jaguars counterparts play for play, and one touchdown pass from Peyton Manning proved to be enough to earn victory by a 14-12 margin in the NFL season opener for both teams. The victory was Manning’s 118th in a Colts uniform, tying the legendary Johnny Unitas for the franchise lead.

NFL sports betting enthusiasts who took the Jaguars as +6 road underdogs were rewarded with the pointspread cover. Indianapolis dropped to 11-16 ATS over the past three years when favored. The 26 combined points went well UNDER the posted total of 45. Despite their reputation as an offensive juggernaut, the Colts have actually trended to the UNDER over the past three seasons, with 19 UNDERs in their past 35 lined games.

After the contest, Manning displayed his characteristic humility when asked about tying the franchise mark for wins and particularly comparisons to the iconic Unitas:

“I’ve never felt comfortable with comparisons with him. I think he’s kind of in his own category. But I am proud of those wins.”

Manning was more concerned about the welfare of receiver Anthony Gonzalez who left late in the first quarter with an injury:

“I askedRashean Matthis what happened and he said, ‘I didn’t even touch him . He has worked so hard in the offseason, I just hope it’s not a season-ending injury.”

Colts coach Jim Caldwell won his first game at the helm of an NFL team, and was pleased with the effort of the defense:

“Obviously, the defense played well and came up big at the end. We thought it would be a grind, and it was. I think our team certainly played tough, played hard, played with a lot of energy.”

Jacksonville wasnt overly discouraged after the contest either, pleased with the intensity and their effectiveness in shutting down one of the NFLs best offenses. Maurice Jones-Drew praised the tenacious Indy defense after the game:

“They just did a great job in the red zone stifling our offense. My hat’s off to them. But we have to learn how to finish.”

Quarterback David Garrard also gave credit to the tenacity of the Indy pass rush:

“I thought, ‘Here we go again, we have a great chance. You love to be in that situation. We were trying to get the ball to Maurice, but you’ve got to slow those pass rushers down. We did what we could do.”

The Jaguars will open their 2009 NFL home slate on Sunday as they host the Arizona Cardinals. The Colts will head to south Florida for a game against the Miami Dolphins on Monday night. Theyll return to Indy for a date with the Arizona Cardinals on the following Sunday.

Vikings’ Adrian Peterson Suffers Minor Back Injury

February 28th, 2010

Brett Favre may get all of the headlines for the Minnesota Vikings, but NFL insiders are well aware that running back Adrian Peterson is the key to the teams offensive success. Peterson’s threat alone is enough to open up options for the passing game. He’s definitely more than a decoy, however–after winning the NFL rushing title last year hes already off to a great start with 272 yards and four touchdowns in only two games.

There’s been a good deal of concern this week in the Twin Cities media about Peterson’s health. Specifically, there are questions about the severity of a back injury suffered last weekend. Peterson has been limited in his practice activities all week as a precaution, though both he and QB Favre as listed as probable on the NFLs official injury report. Peterson’s back is the reason for his inclusion, while Favre is dealing with a minor finger sprain.

The NFLs leading rusher tried to downplay the significance of his injury in comments to reporters:

“God willing, I will be out there playing. Not a big deal at all.”

He launched into a comedy routine when asked for details on the injury. Asked when the injury occurred, Peterson quipped:

“It happened, like, a week back. But that’s all behind me now.”

Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell didnt sound too concerned:

“I’m comfortable with where he’s at. I know he’s been working hard to rehab. … Right now, I think he’s going to be OK, but we have to continue to go throughout the week with that.”

Peterson ran for 92 yards and a touchdown against the Detroit Lions last weekend. His presence alone makes things much easier for the Vikings passing attack”opposing teams often put 8 or 9 men along the line of scrimmage to try and stop him, giving QB Brett Favre a great opportunity to get the ball downfield to his receivers in single coverage.

The Vikings host a team known for their own potent running game this weekend, as the San Francisco 49ers come to town. The Vikings are a 6 point home favorite with the total set at 39. The line for the first half is Vikings -3, with a total of 20. Theyll remain at home the following week as the Green Bay Packers pay a visit for a game on Monday Night Football. A road game will follow, as the Vikings will head to St. Louis to face the lowly Rams on October 11th.

Football Offensive Line Drills Guidelines For Implementing Them Yourself

February 27th, 2010

Have you ever debated with a friend as to the most important position in football? I’m sure the answer has varied depending on who you have asked but by far the offensive linemen are one of the most important positions. If they don’t play their positions correctly then they won’t provide their team with a chance to score.

It is for this reason that the offensive linemen must be in shape. If they are out of shape in anyway they will effectively create a whole in their line allowing for the other teams defenders to break through and essentially attack their quarterback. The drills that the linemen have help teach them to be quick, strong and to definitely build muscle.

As such there are two particular drills that work to keep the linemen in shape. These drills are anything but easy and we will discuss both of them. The first involves a set of 3 players. One of which is an offensive linemen the other two are defensive linemen. Now the point of this game so to speak is for the one offensive lineman to push the defensive linemen up the hill one at a time. Switching between them every time the coach blows the whistle. This is anything but an easy exercise and involves lots of strength and stamina from the linemen.

There is a second very common exercise that the linemen practice that most of us have seen on TV at one point or another. It is a drill using the blocking shield. This shield looks like a pad that is up right and attached to a small metal structure. Usually someone is standing on the metal structure to give it weight and resistance. The linemen than have to push this shield as quickly as they can backward with the person on top of it.

These are just some of the drills used for football offensive line drills. All of which are extremely important for the players to follow correctly.
