When you are coaching such a team, there are several factors to take into consideration. For instance, does the team have a clear, common goal? If the goal is clear and all team members understand what it is, this will make working together easier. However, beware of separate goals that are not beneficial to the team.

Is there active encouragement among team members? When an individual on the team knows they have the support of their team members, they are more likely to work harder on the field. This encouragement works as both a mental and physical motivator. However, negative words and behaviors toward one another can have the opposite impact. Being teased, or called names can break the self-confidence of a team member, which in turn impacts overall team performance.

Are the lines of communication open between team players and the coaching staff? This is essential in addressing issues as they arise. Similar to any type of healthy relationship, repressing emotions or frustrations will negatively impact the team. Open communication channels can work as a precautionary measure for such occurrences.

Just like the team goal needs to be made very clear, every player must know just as clearly what their duty is. Make sure there are no ambiguities with this step. If there are, when players get on the field it may often result in chaos. On the other hand, when everyone knows what is expected of them this will make for a smoother game. Just as important as all of these rules is giving credit when it is due. Make sure that all team member contributions are recognized.

Is there a sense of mutual respect among team players and the coaching staff? When you are playing and learning with people you respect, you are more likely to work harder. You admire them so you probably do not want to let them down. This is all true in the sports arena as well.

What kind of team image reflects the members of the team? This is crucial in understanding how the actions of a single individual impacts an entire team. Is the image positive and healthy? Or is it a reckless image? Team members have to understand that they are in power of the image they create for the world to absorb.

The team goal should be a priority for any athletic team. The vision is always clear, and all individuals put in their best to achieve this goal. This is applicable to Cougar football and beyond. Make sure that every person apart of the group understands their role, and just how important it is to the success of the team.

I’ll preface this by saying I am a big soccer fan. I want the sport to thrive and hopefully it will catch on in the United States some day. It is just hard to watch when most of these games end with one goal scored.

A new ball, called the Jabulani, was introduced for this year’s World Cup. It is supposed to bend more unpredictably than previous balls, however maybe its possible that its hurting the players goal scoring opportunities more than it is helping it.

There’s no doubt that part of the “problem” is defenses have been playing very well. Communication on the defensive end has been improved for most teams.

Is it possible that the vuvuzelas, also known as the terrible noise making horns, are distracting the players? As an American watch the game, I know it is distracting me.

Since it is technically winter in South Africa right now, temperatures have dropped. Certain star players have been seen wearing long sleeved shirts and you can visibly see people exhaling air. Maybe the conditions aren’t what most of the players are used to.

There have been a few shining moments in the tournament so far, however. The United States and South Africa both showed up in their first games, tying the favorites England and Mexico, respectively.

Unfortunately for the host country, they most likely will not see the second round. At the time this article is written, South Africa will have to beat France by a considerable margin in order to keep their tournament hopes alive. At least the country is bringing in money.

AC Milan

The competition for Sheffield does seem to get a lot tougher for the team, especially as they are competing in the Northern Premier League Division. As a team they have used several different grounds over the last few decades, including the likes of Bramall Lane. They have since settled at a new venue; the Coach and Horses Ground in Dronfield, Derbyshire.

They have had some good times over the years, such as 1860, when they finally took part in a Sheffield Derby. The opposing team was Hallam, the first match of its kind in history. The events of that day are something that is still talked about on local Football Forums.

Whilst they are a popular club, they are no necessarily one of the top clubs in the UK. In fact, they would not touch the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea. Brazil is known to be a strong force in any World Cup, consistently finishing in the top percentage of qualifiers and winning on various occasions. In fact, Brazil are the team with the most overall victories, with 1958 being the first year they ever won. This sparked a huge career for the likes of Pele and Garrincha, who both managed to propel their team to a 5-2 victory against Sweden in an eventful game.

At the very next attempt, they looked strong from the start and possible favorites. It was not long before they got into their stride, which saw them eventually gain their second World Cup trophy. The Czechs did their best to challenge this in 1962, but their efforts were fruitless, eventually losing 3-1. Missing out on a chance in the next World Cup, Brazil managed to reach a final once again in 1970, coming up against the Italians. It was a tough battle, but Brazil came out as the victors with a 4-1 win. This was something that members of a World Cup 2010 Forum are likely to be talking about as we speak

It would be 1994 before Brazil saw another World Cup victory attempt. This time they would come against the Italians once more, hoping to repeat their previous performance. Of course, the Italians were on form, this time holding Brazil to a 0-0 draw. Unfortunately for them, Romario was on form, helping to rocket Brazil to victory on penalties.

1998 was a tough year for Brazil, where they managed to reach the final, but eventually lost to an extremely strong French team. Of course, they came back strong in 2002 with a win against Germany, the 2-0 victory eventually putting them as champions.

Italy is another team that has shown some strength over the years. They won in 1934, managing to successfully defend this title in 1938. After this they managed to score big in the 1982 World Cup, eventually taking the win and have managed to pick up a fourth victory since then.

Apart from this, Germany is probably considered the next best team. They took a win in the 50s against the Hungarians, with wins in 1974 and 1990.
