Physical Therapy and Sports: Assist Recovery With A Massage Chair

December 1st, 2009

If you play sports or other physical activities, then you know that injuries come with the territory. Depending on the type of injury and the extent of your injury, you may need physical therapy. Physical therapy is the process of rehabilitation and recovery from your injury or physical ailment. Physical therapy works on recovery of your musculoskeletal system. Massage therapy is used as part of the recovery process. Some of the more advanced therapy clinics are starting to use massage chair recliners as part of their arsenal of tools to help people recover from their injuries.

Physical therapy starts with an expert therapist. Much like a trainer, the physical therapist will design a program to increase the flexibility and strength of the injured areas. The therapist must understand your situation. They must know the procedures you went through if you had surgery. They also must know the physiology of your body and its related mechanics. Most of the programs require stretching and massage for flexibility and exercise for strength. They use specialized equipment in order to target specific areas or individual muscles. Massage chairs are particularly effective in loosening tight areas and enhancing blood circulation.

If you are a professional athlete, then your goals are going to be different than if you play sport occasionally. Your physical therapist will consult with you on a direction and time line that fits your needs. An athlete needs quick recovery and to restore maximum flexibility and strength. Whereas the occasional player may take more time to fully recover. In either case, you will be put through stretching, massage, exercise and more. You will get to use various exercise equipment, massage chairs, free weights and more. These are important tools in the therapist’s recovery arsenal.

Stretching is important to help regain lost flexibility. The muscles may be tight, the joints stiff and you may have scar tissue. These reduce your range of motion and decrease flexibility. Stretching helps to elongate the muscles. This helps to stretch the muscles helping their elasticity. A frequent and continuous regimen of daily stretching helps to speed recovery. Your therapist will design a stretching routine which will help focus on restoring the range of motion.

When you are injured, your body knows to shift work to other areas that are not affected. So certain areas are not used for most activities. The muscles that are not used will atrophy. They will start to lose strength. The body adapts to the situation. To reverse this process, your therapist will start you on an exercise program. The exercise program is usually designed to start off slow, but steady. The program may work muscle groups together or may work on individual muscles. The treatments are designed to bring all the elements together for full strength recover.

Some of the problems encountered in the physical recovery process are scar tissue. Scar tissue forms harder than the original tissue. This needs recurring kneading and pressing massage to restore flexibility. The muscle tissue breaks down into shorter lengths when physically stressed. The muscles tissues need the fibers to be elongated to restore further flexibility. Massage therapy targets these two important areas. Some physical therapy clinics use massage therapists and may also use massage chairs. In either case, the focus is on increasing the longer term flexibility. Massage therapy is effective in loosening the muscles and scar tissue while increasing the blood and nutrient flow accelerate the healing process.

If you push your limits, you may sometimes go too far and suffer an injury. Or they may just happen. Either way, you just want to be fully recovered. The physical therapies being offered utilize top notch technology and methodologies. From massage chair recliners to treadmills, you will be exposed to a range of treatments designed for your full recovery.

I certainly hope that you will never need Physical Therapy, but if you do then find out what massage therapy is right for you. A massage chair can be an fantastic asset in your health. Massage Chair Therapy offers many techniques

Great Football Hands

November 11th, 2009

Need to have an advantage above the competition? If you are a running back, defensive back, or wide receiver, a great pair of gloves can make a tremendous difference in game play.

Football Game gloves provide the wide receiver and defensive back the power for the ball to “grip” to their hands. It can be dual for the running back. Gloves will permit the running back to be capable to receive the football with simplicity when they are coming outside of the backfield, as well as, retaining a tight grasp on the football when going through the line. Gloves for linesmen, which are cushioned, provides the lineman to be much very forceful in the “trenches” without concerning about injuring their hands and or fingers. Football gloves are created for all ages and sizes.

Let’s talk more closely about how these gloves can benefit each player by position.

Skilled Positions: Running backs, defensive backs, and wide receivers are considered skilled positions. A player being able to receive AND keep command of the ball, this player is very significant to the team. Last thing all players wish to take place, as with coaches, is a fumble or turnover. Football gloves allow the skilled position player with additional grip and control. Best grasp and best fit are the ones to buy. The combination of these two elements (best fit and best grip), is the key to finding a great pair of gloves for the player. Gloves can last an full football season if taken care for correctly (read manufacturers care directions). If the traction of the glove has worn off (the “stickiness”) there is a spray that can be bought to prepare the glove and recover its “stickiness”.

Power/Strength Positions: Linesmen, or power/strength positions, depend on the use of leverage and grip to move the player on the other team. They have to be able to seize, twist, or move the offensive lineman out of the way and not have to care about hurting their fingers and or hands from hitting a helmet, face mask, or anything else that might cause injury. Offensive linesmen should seek protection with utilizing the linesmen gloves. The target of the offensive linesmen is to stop the defensive linemen from penetrating the back field, of course, and giving up a QB sack or running back tackle in the backfield. Offensive linesmen are not allowed to seize and hold their opponent, but there are other techniques that can be employed to gain leverage against the defensive linesman. A cushioned glove will allow for the player to execute with assuredness and not concern about harm to their fingers or hands.

Gloves for the power/strength and skilled positions can significantly increase player’s execution.

For Men Only: Get Rid of that Beer Belly and Still Drink Beer

October 31st, 2009

Men are you tired of hearing about how flat your stomach used to be and how the heaviest thing you lift now is your gut over your belt? If so, thats about to change, as I (drum roll please) am about to show you How to Get Rid of the Beer Belly without Giving Up Beer! Now let’s get down to defining what a beer belly really is and determine if it is really caused by beer.

What is a beer belly? A beer belly is by definition a section of fat that has begun to live somewhere between your chest and the area you used to call your waistline. But is it cause by beer? The answer is no. Science and medicine has proven that beer bellies are actually caused by a build up in calories resulting from unhealthy eating habits and lifestyles. The stomach area is the region of the body where men have the greatest deposit of fat cells so, when the body intakes a lot of calories and doesn’t burn them up throughout the day, the body send the fat to that specific area right in your stomach.

Now you know where the beer belly or should I say the hot wings belly comes from, next you have to decide what you are willing to do to reverse the curse. You can start by working on those fat cells that are spreading themselves on your stomach. Beer is not the direct cause of your waistline expanding, but it can be a factor. Alcohol makes you hungry, think Hot wings and Beer at Hooters (I mean the food is why you go, right?), so if you stopped drinking youd be taking a good step towards cutting down your calorie intake.

Get rid of the beer and you also get rid of the increased appetite. However, this article is about losing weight without getting rid of the beer, so that will not be included in our weight loss efforts. But you can switch to a lighter beer with fewer calories and in addition you can exercise more than you drink so that you are burning more calories than you are drinking. Some of you may think that exercising extensively is too much hard work, so that won’t be included in our diet program either. But we will look at the best beers for your belly.

The first thought that probably comes to your mind when somebody says low calorie beer is those light beers that taste terrible. This article is not going to try to convince you of those beers, because we all know that real men don’t drink such girly drinks.

First we have the nice and dark Guiness Draught; this beer is not light and with only 125 calories and 10 carbs, you don’t have to worry about your belly. It’s also full of flavor so you don’t have to drink tons to make up for a bad taste. Second we have Beamish Irish Stout; it’s light on calories with only 131. Finally, we have Busch which only has about 133 calories and around 10 carbs. So drink responsibly and get rid of that gut!

Now you know what you can do to get rid of that beer belly without getting rid of the beer. As a matter of fact, the next time your wife or girlfriend or your mother tells you to get from in front of the television and lose some weight, go to the fridge, grab yourself a cold one and tell her you’re working on it right now!
