The recruiting process for aspiring college football players can be a very confusing one. You show interest in a school, seem to do everything right, but you still don’t hear anything back. Here’s why coaches dont return your calls.

The simplest reason college coaches aren’t calling you back is because they can’t. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has very specific rules regarding the recruiting process. A good coach follows these rules, because violating them can result in very serious penalties. The complete list of rules can be found on the NCAA website, but here’s a basic guide to get you started.

As a freshman or sophomore in high school, you are allowed only minimal contact with college football programs. Although they are allowed to send you camp brochures or questionnaires, they may not call you, and no official campus visits or off-campus contact is permitted. However, you may call them as often as you like at your own expense, and you can make unofficial campus visits.

In fact, coaches can’t contact you at all until after September 1st of your junior year of high school. At this point, they may send you recruiting letters. You can continue to call them at your own expense, and they are permitted to call you once, between April 15th and May 31st. Unofficial campus visits are still permitted, but no off-campus contact or official visits are allowed.

However, the rules change again when your senior year of high school begins. High school seniors may receive recruitment materials, and they may also take calls from college coaches beginning September 1st. In addition, coaches can finally make off-campus contact, starting the Sunday after the last Saturday in November. Coaches are limited in their contact, however, and only allowed to meet with parents or players off-campus a maximum of six times.

Unlimited unofficial visits are still permitted, and official visits may also occur starting September 1st of your senior year. You may only make one official visit per school, and five visits total. (This includes Division II schools.) You are allowed as many as six evaluations and contacts throughout your senior year, with a maximum of one evaluation per month throughout the months of September, October, and December, and two within the period of April 15th to May 31st.

The rules regarding coach-player contact during the college football recruiting process are complicated, and can have severe consequences if violated. Play it safe and visit the NCAA website to cover all your bases. Remember, you are allowed to call the coach and make unofficial campus visits as many times as you like, so even though these rules are strict, they won’t stop you if you really want to get in touch with a program. Good luck!

There’s a lot more to college football eligibility than being great at athletics. You need to show academic skill also. If that falls short, you can forget about your college ball player dreams.

Throughout your time at high school, you can do things to enhance your likelihood of getting where you want to be. It’s never too soon to start with this. In your freshman and your sophomore years, for example, you should be focusing on getting your grades as high as possible. You should also begin talking to your guidance counselor about help in preparation for playing college ball from an academic stand point.

When you’ve reached your junior year, you will need to get registered for and to take the SAT and/or the ACT. In this year, you’ll also register yourself at the NCAA eligibility center and have your high school guidance counselor send an official transcript there. You’ll also want to talk to the counselor to be sure you are enrolled in all the courses that you need to be.

When you’re a senior, you should take the SAT or ACT again if your scores could be improved upon. The eligibility center will take the best one. After April 1st, your final amateurism certificate will have to be requested. And, once you’ve graduated, your counselor will need to mail your final transcript to the eligibility center in a sealed envelope.

Talk to your counselor to make sure you are on the right track. If additional support is needed academically, make sure to ask. This is when you need to do everything possible for achieving your college football player dreams.

There are many resources at the NCAA eligibility center to help you also. Both your counselor and the center are there to give you help in succeeding. Make sure you take advantage of all the help you’re able to get in reaching college football eligibility.

Get the information and details you will need to meet your objectives and goals for attaining College Football Eligibility today. There are many advantages and benefits when you get recruited for college football and you can find out how to do it now!

Anyone who knows you has heard you say “I want to play college football” dozens of times. But you don’t know what you need to do to make that happen. It’s going to take more than just playing a lot of ball and improving your game. Here are some tips to get going.

The first step is to think about where you want to play. First, list your top five choices that you really want to play for. Then, choose around ten or fifteen schools that aren’t your top choices but you’d still be happy on their teams.

Finally, come up with twenty or twenty-five schools that you like for different reasons, like where they’re located or that they have an academic program you’re interested in. Contacting between 50 to 100 coaches is going to increase your odds of being able to play college ball, as will picking more than just Division 1 schools.

Once you have your list of schools together, you’ll need to write your Educational and Athletic Cover Letter. This should be no more than one page in length and contain all your important school and football information, as well as your contact details.

The educational part should contain ACT and SAT scores if you’ve taken them, your GPA, class rank and extracurricular activities. Under athletic information, include your height, weight, position played, statistics and any honors. Include the email and phone number for your high school coach as well. Letters can be posted on sites for online recruiting. Those sent to coaches should be sent to the coach’s name personally as well as including a couple of lines as to why you want to play there.

The last thing you can do is to make a highlight video that you can post online. Don’t worry about including fancy effects or music. All the coaches are interested in is how you play and they won’t want the distractions. Put your best plays towards the front, as they may not watch the whole thing. Always send your cover letter along with the video.

It may seem like a lot of effort, but it’s what needs to be done so you don’t just say “I want to play college football” but get to actually do it. Put in that effort, keep positive and you’ll have a good chance of achieving success.

When you want to be sure of getting recruited for football, you have to be determined to succeed. Just saying “I want to play college football” is not adequate.

Over the years, there have been some incredible football movies. Football is a sport that requires teamwork, sacrifice and enormous dedication, and when a film can encompass all of these elements, and more, it usually results in a great and memorable movie.

Regardless of the emotion the film may cause you to elicit, here is what I feel to be the best football films in recent memory.

Any best of list would have to include 2009’s The Blind Side. Sandra Bullock may have won an Oscar, but the true hero in this story is no doubt is the left offensive tackle whom which the Tuohys housed. This is a must see film for the whole family.

I have nothing but fond memories of Varsity Blues, a coming of age comedy that exceeded most peoples expectations and somehow managed to leave its mark in the chronicles of football history movies. The West Canaan Coyotes left a lasting impression in my mind. Or maybe it was the whipped cream bikinis…

Going back in time, the 1974 version of The Longest Yard definitely makes my list. This movie starred Burt Reynolds in a role recently revised by Adam Sandler, the great QB Paul Crewe.

How could anyone make a list of the best football films and not include Rudy? This film is a classic. For anyone who ever thought they couldn’t accomplish their dreams, Rudy is the film for them. This is an incredible story about reaching your goals, no matter how hard the road may be.

Any Given Sunday, features one of the greatest movie speeches of all time in the now famous Al Pacino “Peace With Inches” speech. This movie also features an incredible cast, adding Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx and Dennis Quaid to name a few.

The aforementioned films are truly some of my favorites. There are others that are worth mentioning, but these films I remember more than any other football movies.

Sports films are incredibly fun to watch, as they are often based on true stories and provide a good balance of action, suspense, letdown and joy. While Hollywood churns out sequel after sequel, we rarely get a good sports film these days. That’s not to say there haven’t been some great ones, however.

The following are some of the greatest sports movies from the past decade.

When it comes to great movies about football from the last 2000-2009, one would be foolish not to include Disney’s Remember The Titans on their list. The true story of the first racially integrated football team stars Denzel Washington and the always great Will Patton.

It is just me or do football movies often end up being the best sports movies? 2009’s The Blind Side garnered serious acclaim, even getting an Oscar nominee for Best Picture of the Year. Sandra Bullock finally found the role that won her the Academy Award for Best Actress, and she deserved it.

What list of sports films from this past decade would be complete without mentioning The Wrestler. You can argue that professional wrestling is not a sport, but there is nothing fake or funny about the way the industry is portrayed in this film. This is an incredibly moving film and Mickey Rourke nails the part.

Million Dollar Baby is another film that definitely makes my list. This is an incredible film, directed by the great Clint Eastwood, which is the story of a female boxer who has nothing to lose (played by Hillary Swank) and a coach (Eastwood) who is reluctant to take her on. Amazing movie.

Another boxing film that is a great watch is Cinderella Man. Directed by Ron Howard and starring Russell Crowe and Rene Zelwegger, this film had Oscar potential written all over it. Unfortunately that was not the case, but this film, based on the boxer Jim Braddock is awesome.

So that’s that. Let’s see what the next decade has in store for us!

While the World Cup this year may end up being the most watched event in the history of television (estimates say 800 million people are watching), I have found the tournament so far disappointing. What happened to all the goals? Here are some theories.

I’ll preface this by saying I am a big soccer fan. I want the sport to thrive and hopefully it will catch on in the United States some day. It is just hard to watch when most of these games end with one goal scored.

A new ball, called the Jabulani, was introduced for this year’s World Cup. It is supposed to bend more unpredictably than previous balls, however maybe its possible that its hurting the players goal scoring opportunities more than it is helping it.

There’s no doubt that part of the “problem” is defenses have been playing very well. Communication on the defensive end has been improved for most teams.

Is it possible that the vuvuzelas, also known as the terrible noise making horns, are distracting the players? As an American watch the game, I know it is distracting me.

Since it is technically winter in South Africa right now, temperatures have dropped. Certain star players have been seen wearing long sleeved shirts and you can visibly see people exhaling air. Maybe the conditions aren’t what most of the players are used to.

There have been a few shining moments in the tournament so far, however. The United States and South Africa both showed up in their first games, tying the favorites England and Mexico, respectively.

Unfortunately for the host country, they most likely will not see the second round. At the time this article is written, South Africa will have to beat France by a considerable margin in order to keep their tournament hopes alive. At least the country is bringing in money.

How Hobbies Can Help You http://www.footballfansworld.net/2010/03/how-hobbies-can-help-you/ http://www.footballfansworld.net/2010/03/how-hobbies-can-help-you/#comments Sat, 20 Mar 2010 17:23:40 +0000 AJ Handley http://www.footballfansworld.net/2010/03/how-hobbies-can-help-you/ Yet Another Related Posts Plugin.]]> Have you ever considered taking up a hobby after school, college or university? If not, maybe you should! Extra curricular activities are a great way to spend your spare time and energy, ploughing it into something that you will enjoy and benefit from in many ways.

Undertaking a hobby can help to keep you motivated and focused on your other work, it can act as a break in your routine and keep you focused and motivated. It will also reflect positively on your character by demonstrating that you are a self-motivated, inspired individual that is dedicated to an additional cause beyond what is expected of you. You will also be able to effectively put into practice and perhaps improve your time management skills. All of these characteristics in a person are extremely desirable and can also strengthen your all-important job or university applications.

Now what to choose? Make sure that you choose to invest your time wisely, pick a hobby that you’re likely to enjoy and be stimulated to stick to! Either choose an activity that can improve your skill set, adding to your existing attributes, perhaps a sport or a language, maybe even volunteer work? Or choose something that you are certain you will enjoy and be capable of, reducing the risk of giving up to quickly!

Try and choose a rational hobby, consider travel expenses, equipment costs, lesson prices and the amount of time you will need to invest. You can try to keep costs down by looking for second hand equipment, or take a minute to figure out if it would be more beneficial to rent or purchase your equipment.

Taking on an extra curricular activity can be very sociable, an opportunity to meet new people, who are likely to share your interests. It is also a chance to meet people from different backgrounds, and walks of life. You will gain valuable life experience and also create contacts that could be useful in other areas of your life.

Most people who take on extra curricular activities outside of school hours will benefit from being out of the house, thriving in an enjoyable environment and gaining extra life skills. It is a great opportunity while you have the spare time, so take advantage and enjoy yourself!

The Most Important Happenings During The Indy And New Orleans Super Bowl http://www.footballfansworld.net/2010/03/the-best-blips-that-took-place-in-the-saints-vs-colts-super-bowl-game/ http://www.footballfansworld.net/2010/03/the-best-blips-that-took-place-in-the-saints-vs-colts-super-bowl-game/#comments Fri, 12 Mar 2010 17:17:25 +0000 Rick Taylor http://www.footballfansworld.net/2010/03/the-best-blips-that-took-place-in-the-saints-vs-colts-super-bowl-game/ Yet Another Related Posts Plugin.]]> For the third straight year, football fans enjoyed a competitive Super Bowl game that has often left fans disappointed after sitting through many blowouts in recent years.

The Indianapolis Colts were the team that was picked to win the game, but the New Orleans Saints really gave folks a surprise when they beat them. Drew Brees , along with the rest of the offense, played an outstanding game, but that’s not to say that their defense didn’t play just as well, doing a great job taking on Peyton Manning, the Colt’s quarterback.

So, let’s discuss down some of the highlights of Super Bowl XLIV. Perhaps you didn’t get to see the game; if that is the case, then these are the things that you would want to know about.

To begin with, although he started the game on shaky ground by only getting three completions from his first seven pass attempts, Drew Brees then went on to have a close to perfect game. He got 29 out of the next 32 attempts and finished the game with a total of 32 completions from 39 attempts, 2 touchdown passes, zero turnovers and 288 total yards.

Wow, those numbers are extraordinary and no one should be surprised that Brees came away with the award for that spectacular performance as a quarterback in the Super Bowl.

Let’s not take anything away from Garrett Hartley, the Saint’s young kicker. He attempted and made all three of his field goals from 44, 46 and 47 yards. These were vital in helping them to win, considering that they were losing to the Colts whenever he made two of them.

Lastly, there was a controversy that emerged after the game involving Peyton Manning. After losing the game to the Saints, the Indianapolis quarterback stormed off the field without shaking hands with or congratulating any of the New Orleans players.

It’s customary for the losing team’s players to congratulate the winners, so many are calling Manning’s act one of poor sportsmanship. Drew Brees, on the other hand, said that he understood Manning’s frustration and doesn’t hold anything against him for it.

Besides football, the writer additionally frequently publishes information on queen size headboards and full size bed headboards.

One of my hobbies is playing fantasy sports leagues. I’ve playing for a while now and have fantasy teams in baseball, basketball and football. I’ve also tried other basic, sports based games.

I find this a very enjoyable hobby, and get a real buzz from managing my virtual team. Buying, selling, and being the boss gives me a lot of pleasure. I’ve always wanted to own a sports team and now I have 3, even if they aren’t real!

This is very rewarding, but rather addictive. As I am in 3 leagues, I seem to spend a helluva lot of time refreshing pages and checking league positions and games stats.

I’ve even watched matches that I couldn’t care less about just to see how it will affect my teams’ placings. I will also follow games for the same reason. There are some that actually wonder if it is harmless considering how addicted some players get.

A true sports fan loves a good competition where things are nip and tuck; it brings out our competitive nature. There are lots of positive things about playing these leagues, and like a real sport, they keep us occupied for the duration of the season.

I will admit to certain periods of obsession over how my players are performing and whether or not they have the best interests of the team at heart. This has often taken precedence over the actual results.

It’s my worst nightmare when my virtual teams are scheduled to play at the same time as my virtual teams. My long term loyalty to my real teams is being tested by those who aren’t real. This is quite disturbing to be honest.

I’m only one of millions who play these leagues and know how addictive they are. There are obviously some issues to be addressed there have been some furious debates regarding these leagues.

Team spokesman Brett Daniels says Cowboys Stadium in Arlington is 95 per cent sold out. A few thousand season tickets remain. Daniels on Wednesday told The Associated Press that more than 22,000 “Party Pass” tickets, at US$29 apiece, have been sold.

The ticket is essentially standing-room only, with’0,000 square feet built into the stadium specifically so fans can hang out during games. Much of the space is on decks and patios.

The retractable-roof stadium has capacity of about 100,000 for football, with 300 luxury suites. The Cowboys play their first game in the new stadium on Aug. 21, facing Tennessee in a pre-season matchup.

A number of the commissions wrap around stadium walls. Others are located in entryways and will be visible to fans seated in the stadium.
