Is dunking a basketball, spiking a volleyball, or jumping over a defensive back’s hand to make the game winning catch a dream of yours? If you participate in any of these sports, or even others such as track and field, jumping high will put you ahead of the competition. Simply playing your sport of choice is not enough to improve your jumping skills. You have to follow a specific plan tailored to your individual goals. There is a myriad of jump training programs out there to assist you with this.

First, the program should have many facets. Second, you must believe in yourself that it is possible for you to jump higher. And third, you have commit to the training regime that you have chosen will work for you.

First, you want to find or put together a multi-faceted routine that incorporates diet, strength training, speed training, flexibility, technique, and recovery time. Your diet should cut out all processed foods and simple carbohydrates. Focus on eating quality protein and complex carbohydrates. Also drink plenty of water; no soda, beer, energy drinks, etc. The strength training aspect should focus mainly on your jumping muscles. Your quadriceps are the main ones used to propel you higher, so make sure to include squats, which is the best exercise for them. For speed training, use plyometrics as well as jumping rope. Flexibility training would consist of various stretches, again focusing on jumping muscles. Improving your jumping technique can even add a few inches to your vertical. Study videos of the best dunkers, high jumpers, and volleyball players and you’ll see the techniques they have in common. Apply those to your jumping. And the most overlooked facet is recovery time. In my opinion, the recovery period you give your body between training sessions is just as important as the workout itself.

Second, believe in yourself. Recent psychological studies have shown that having a positive attitude about your training regimen and the results you expect to see will help you to achieve those results. This is similar to the golfer who visualizes putting the ball perfectly into the hole. If you picture yourself jumping higher, to dunk a ball, to clear the high jump bar, or to spike the volleyball, your goals will seem to be naturally reached.

Last, after you compile your training routine or decide what jump higher program to buy, you have to commit all of yourself to it. Do not skip anything or cheat in any way. Do not take one day off of the program. Don’t eat junk food one time. Don’t leave out any training aspect you planned to do. Not following through is the main reason people don’t reach their goals of jumping higher as well as other things in life. Smokers who want to quit are motivated to quit, but often cannot stick to their plan. The ones that can stick to their plan for a reasonable time (which is usually as simple as not smoking), end up smoke free.

To summarize, find an acceptable program to train you to jump higher, believe with all of your heart that you can substantially increase your vertical jump, and fully commit to the program you’ve chosen. Good luck, but you won’t need luck if you do these three things.

Learn how to <noindex>jump higher</noindex>. Stop by Ryan Reynolds’s site to find out <noindex>how to increase your jumping ability</noindex>.

One of the biggest guys in college sports a year ago, Terrence Cody, at 6 foot 4 in tall and 350 lbs, has transformed how colleges evaluate larger players. A awesome run stopper makes a world of difference for football teams wishing to free up their linebackers.

I believe that increasingly more we will have big men, certainly like Terrence Cody, coming onto the scene in college football. A massive fella at that size in the middle of the defense actively playing middle guard or nosetackle is a very invaluable resource.

Now don’t misunderstand me, individuals the size of Terrence Cody with his quickness do not come around all the time. The NFL football team, the Baltimore Ravens saw fantastic potential in this big man’s actual physical talents, size, as well as speed enough to draft him at number 57 in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft.

It isn’t merely size that makes the main difference in a fellow like this,it is also the explosiveness. The fast initial step off the line, when coupled with the mutliplying power of the weight, it is 100 % pure physics of mass times acceleration equals momentum… and momentum he does have!

The Baltimore Ravens observed a sizeable drop-off in it’s run defense the very first time this past year, 2009. Running back Cedric Benson of the Cincinnati Bengals ran for the 100 yard performance versus the heralded Ravens defense in over 39 games. Part of the reason is the light middle of the defensive front. In 2010,Raven’s coaches understood that they needed the big man up the middle of their defense to totally free things up and so they drafted massive “Mount Cody”.

Look for big things (no pun intended) out of Mount Cody in the NFL, as well as other massive men doing much more in college football. Recruiting will get hot for these kinds of players because it proved successful for the Alabama Crimson Tide in capturing a 2009 national championship.

So the very next time you think about good defense, see if you’re able to find a nearby mountain and take a look at it. Your favorite college football team will probably be looking for the same thing but only a tad bit more human!

In The state of Alabama, there is certainly another set of guidelines that you will not come across any place else. As an Alabama resident, these rules will help you as long as you stay here.

Golden rules are the ones that really apply. You need to have them in mind and do not ignore them. Like stars to navigate by, they are everlasting markers to guide us and keep us moving in the right direction.

Live and eat by the principles of everyday Alabama life and everything will go good for you in dixie.

With that in mind, I thought of life in Alabama and a number of of its unspoken “golden rules”. Listed here are five of the most beneficial “Golden Rules” that are applicable to living in Alabama.

Golden Rule 1 Choose Between AU or UA! (Some folks might say it’s most significant!): You have to pick between Alabama verses Auburn. You will find that almost everyone you come across in Alabama asks you who “you are for” in the Iron Bowl. The rivalry is sizzling hot, and you must pick sides. Keep in mind, if you don’t pick, folks will think you are strange. So, if nothing else, pick your favorite colors, crimson tide red for Alabama or orange & blue for the Auburn.

Golden Rule 2, You Have To Eat Corn Bread… Cornbread is as southern as gigging frogs on a hot summer night at the local pond. Remember that cornbread is real good with pinto juice poured on it or even butter..

Golden Rule 3, Go To Church. At least two times a year, on Easter or Christmas, it is expected that you go to a local church. Folks will invite you repeatedly if you do not go at all. So get used to it.

Golden Rule 4, Be Courteous. Here in the south, we are not brash like Yankees. We treat neighbors like we would like to be treated. One of the ways of accomplishing this, include saying please, you’re welcome, & thank you.

Golden Rule 5, Love Alabama Based Music! You have to love any music that has something to do with Alabama. This would definitely include all the hits by the greatest country music band of all time history, the group Alabama. One song is especially near and dear to Alabamians, and that is “My Home’s In Alabama” . It is important because we love our land!

If you follow these golden rules to living in Alabama, you will find that life will be a little sweeter here in the heart of dixie!

Be a big Alabama fan by going to our <noindex>Alabama Football</noindex> site at www.AlCrimsonTide.com!
Manchester United has won the oldest cup competition FA Cup 11 times, which is more than any other team. Several legendary players have given their services to the club. Ryan Giggs is one of them. He has played the most number of games (over 800) than any other player for the club. Denis Richards is another one who has scored the most number of goals in a season for the club.

True supporters stick with their team irrespective of winning or losing the game. Once you order tickets, the shipment of tickets is subject to the release of tickets by the home team.

One of their biggest rivals includes Liverpool and games between them are highly competitive. A large crowd views the game both inside and outside the stadium.

It was a game between Crespi and St.Bonaventure last Friday. I was with a friend watching the game. The story he shared with me was stunningly inspiring and I have never come across another great recruiting story like it. It really changed my perception about the college recruiting process and how one can win in this abstract process of recruiting.

There was a STUD RB back in Southern California who suddenly interested my friend because coaches were not ready to consider him at all because he did not possess any great credentials. They just measured his not-so-inspiring physical attributes like height and weight and thought that he was not fit to represent the college. They could not see what was in his heart. They did not know the stamina and endurace of his will.

His physical attributes convinced them that he could not play for the school. So my friend started coaching him on how to promote himself. They made an online video on his profile and emailed all the coaches to view the video. The key point in this story was whenever the emails were sent to the coaches, the subject line of the emails contained a unique line such as:

SUBJECT: “I am the Running Back YOU need”…; “Running Back to help YOUR program”; “CA Star RB to help your program”

Essentially, he was using subject lines that would peak the coaches interest, get them to open the email and then he would instruct the coach to check out his online profile.

***One key tactic he used is that he put his ONLINE PROFILE link in the signature of ALL of his emails…you never know who may end up seeing it!

In other words, this young lad knew the trick of the trade that he had to do a PR job by suitably empowering his recruiting campaign with PR components. He also got in touch with important people at Scout.com and tried to promote himself. When the hype around him heated up, he succeeded in getting his first offer. Within a few weeks, the number of offers went up to 8 D1 offers. He utilized the first offer for revisiting the other coaches in whom the first offer triggered considerable interest.

It is a human tendency to want to have what you can’t have. This same human tendency is what made other coaches extend an offer to this young man. He visited North Carolina with his family and called up all the coaches of major colleges to inform them that he was local, and he wanted to meet them. Once he met them, he showed them his video profile. In the evening, as many as four offers were extended to him.

So let me inspire you on HOW to go from 0-8 D1 offers in a matter of a few weeks (of course you gotta be able to play!):

1. BE HUNGRY and STAY HUNGRY – YOU will only go through this process once, so make the most of it!

2. You should promote yourself using all possible means. Sometimes PR works most effectively.

3. You should ensure that people watch your profile video and hence it is better to carry DVD’s with you. Treat your DVD’s like your business card.

This past Wednesday I did a fantastic recruiting panel at Brentwood high school with former Princeton and pro baseball player Stephen Young, women’s head basketball coach at Occidental College Heidi VanDerveer, and UCLA compliance coordinator Dan Goldberg. We spoke about different aspects of the college recruiting process, and the one thing the Brentwood athletic director asked me to discuss is the College Recruiting Game Plan.

There are 3 keys to your College Recruiting Game Plan:

TIMELINE – When to promote?

One of the top questions parents ask me is, “When should I start promoting my student-athlete to colleges?” I always tell the parents the best time to start promoting yourself to college coaches is when you have quality varsity video. Once you have quality varsity video, then it is the BEST time to start promoting yourself to college coaches, so they can see you compete against top talent.

TOOLS NEEDED

The second thing you need for a successful recruiting game plan are the right tools. You will need an athletic resume, an official transcript, and a quality highlight video. If you can think of this process as being similar to getting a job, it will help you to effectively understand the use of each tool. Your transcript is very important because more and more schools are putting more emphasis on the academic aspect of recruiting. Your highlight video is also an imperative tool. A coach cannot effectively recruit you if they are unable to watch you play.

TAKE CHARGE – PROMOTE, PROMOTE, PROMOTE

The third thing you will need, and what I believe to be the most important step in the college recruiting process is to PROMOTE yourself to college coaches. If coaches do not know about you, then they cannot effectively recruit you. Be sure to send your TOOLS out to colleges that seem to be an ideal fit for you.

Every university across the country uses a recruiting board to evaluate their current recruits. A lot of coaches use either a number system or grades to score their prospects. For example, Coach Saban at Alabama uses a number system to grade his recruits. All of his top recruits receive a number 1 for their height, weight and speed.

The reason you want to know where you stand on the recruiting board is because a lot of coaches will tell you that you are their number one recruit when in FACT YOU ARE NOT. Why would they lie to a 17 or 18 year old? Because they want to keep you excited about their school…they want you to believe that you are their number one recruit.

By knowing where you stand on a coaches recruiting board will give you GREAT knowledge and power with other schools that are recruiting. What it means to be a number 2 or 3 recruit is that if their number 1 guy does not accept their offer then you are next in line.

If they tell you that you are their number one recruit, then you should quickly start talking about official recruiting visits and/or offers to their school. If a coach starts tripping over his tongue, then you know that you are not really their number one recruit.

Another great question to ask a college coach, is to find out what would have to happen for you to be their number one recruit at your position. You will get all kinds of different answers to this question, and again it may give you very valuable information to empower you during the recruiting process.

There are other great questions to ask college coaches, and you can learn more of them by watching the video in this article.

Have you scheduled all 5 of your official recruiting visits? It is important as you begin to schedule your official visits that you keep in mind that these are business trips. I know there are a lot of stories out there about how much FUN your recruiting visits are and don’t get me wrong they are A TON of fun, but it is critical that you approach them as a business trip.

When I took my recruiting trip to Stanford my senior year, I had a blast! I had a chance to meet OUTSTANIDNG players from all over the country. I was teamed up with a great guy on the team to show me around campus, classes, and introduce me to the Palo Alto area. We went out to an AMAZING restaurant in Palo Alto. There was about 20 of us in the restaurant chowing down…I am glad I didnt have to pay that bill In the midst of all my fun, I made sure that I kept my wits, and I approached my visit as a business trip.

Why is this important?

Well there are several reasons why you want to treat your visit like a business trip. On your visit, the coach is going to team you up with a current player on the team…what do you think the first thing a coach does once you leave campus to go back home? He calls the player he teamed you up with into his office and starts interviewing him about you. The coach asks the current player:

Do you think he would fit into our program?

Did you have any problems with him this weekend?

How did he behave when you were out and about?

These are obviously just a few questions a coach will ask your host…and bottom line he wants to get a feel for you as a student-athlete. Most importantly he wants to know if you will be a positive contribution to the program.

4 things to keep in mind for your recruiting trip:

1. PREPARE: Write down all your questions before your trip, so when you get on campus you are prepared to get your questions answered.
