Why do you need air hockey tables in your home? Here's why. When everyone gets together for the holidays or a special occasion, you don't want to just sit around the television or spend the whole evening staring blankly into each other's faces. And while some of the guys might enjoy viewing some sports on television such a choice might meet with groans and disapproving shakes of the head from the women. Sadly, what often happens with these gatherings is that everyone ends up going their own way and finding their own entertainment which defeats the purpose of the get together.

Why do you need air hockey tables in your home? Here’s why. When everyone gets together for the holidays or a special occasion, you don’t want to just sit around the television or spend the whole evening staring blankly into each other’s faces. And while some of the guys might enjoy viewing some sports on television such a choice might meet with groans and disapproving shakes of the head from the women. Sadly, what often happens with these gatherings is that everyone ends up going their own way and finding their own entertainment which defeats the purpose of the get together.

But air hockey tables can combat that because they are literally fun for everyone! Because they don’t require a lot of skill, strength, or speed, anyone can play. Grandmothers, small children, teenagers, even people with special needs who can’t play other types of arcade or competitive games can often enjoy a game on air hockey tables.

Parents who worry about their kids being a part of violent sports, such as football, don’t have to worry about that with air hockey tables. The only thing getting pushed and shoved in these matches is the puck. The chance for injury is slim to none.

All that it requires to excel at the game of air hockey is an understanding of some basic rules of the game which are described below:

*	The main idea of the game is to get the puck across the table and across the goal line of the other player. Each time you do this, you get a point. The other player than has ten seconds to serve the puck back to their opponent.

*	Each game lasts until someone earns 7 points. Many air hockey tables are automatically set up for this type of scoring which minimizes arguments and debates over who is winning.

*	If you commit a foul, you immediately lose control over the puck. You can be fouled if you put the mallet on top of the puck during play or try to stop the puck in some way. This is called topping. If you touch the puck with your clothes or body, you can also receive a foul. Furthermore, you can be fouled if you do not hit the puck back to the other player within seven seconds of it crossing the center line into your part of the air hockey table.

*	You can take one time out per game. However, the time out can only last up to ten seconds and can only be taken when the puck is located on the other player’s half of the table.

*	You can stand anywhere you want to around your half of the table, even on the sides. You cannot cross the table’s center line and stand in your opponent’s half of the table. Of course, standing on the sides doesn’t make much strategic sense since it leaves your goals unguarded.

Now that you know some basic rules about the game, your next challenge is to invite over all of your friends and family members for an exciting round of air hockey. You can even print off these rules and post them in your family’s game room so everyone will know exactly how to play the game and so no one will miss out on the fun air hockey tables provide.

The total number of conference wins it has garnered is 32. A good 129 of their members have been named All-American players. Twice the Heisman Trophy was received by a player. Nineteen of their men have been admitted into Halls of Fame. The College Football Hall of Fame enshrined 15 while the NFL Hall of Fame accepted 4.

The total record of the team ranks them third in the category of the team with the most wins. Their record reveals 845-318-33 or a rate of winning amounting to .720. Other achievements are having the second most frequent invitations to Bowl games, ranking 8th for the most number of plays. 8.5 out of every ten polls include them in the top ranks. More than 33 % of the time, two polls will judge them to belong to the top ten teams and nearly half of the time they manage to get into top 25 lists.

The first University of Texas football team was launched in 1893, playing versus the Dallas Football club. That club was then adjudged the greatest in the state. The Texans determined to disprove that claim and did so with an upset victory of 18-16.

The team’s first coach was R. D. Wentworth who started out with a formidable play. He defeated the first six teams with a sweeping over-all score of 191-0. However, the team lost to Missouri by 28 points to their 0 points. Under Wentworth Texas scored a number of shutout victories, defeating Texas A&M in 1894 (38-0) and Arkansas in the same year (54-0). In 1900 they defeated Oklahoma (28-2). The over-all record for the team for this period was a spectacular 207-57-12.

Under the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association it bagged two victories in 1913 and 1914. The next year, the team joined the Southwest Conference and in 1920 grabbed the title for that conference.

To its credit, the team has a total of 32 conference wins. The last of these were in 1996, 2005 and 2009. They were all won while affiliated with the Big 12 Conference. They also took four national championships for 1963, 1969, 1970 and 2005. They won all post-season Bowl events for all but the 1970 championship.

They also grabbed three Bowl Championship Series games. These were in 2005, 2006 and 2009

A glance at a record of their coaches from 1941 to 2009 shows all of them having more wins than losses. If that is an indicator of the persistence of the team or the talent of the coach or both is anybody’s guess.

Several major honors have been received by the team or their members.

The 2010 schedule of the Cincinnati Bears’ non-conference games number five all in all while the conference games number 7.

Fresno State

The Fresno State U Bulldogs are the team’s first opponents on September 4. The game between the two last season was well-matched with the Bulldogs putting up a very good resistance. Cincinnati was hard put trying to contain the enemy or trying to break past its defenses. The Bulldogs, however, fell back towards the end leaving Miami to take the victory 28-20 at Nippert stadium

Last season, the bulldogs scored 8-5 and 6-2 in the WAC. But at that time they still had running back Ryan Mathews in the team. Ever since Mathews left for the NFL draft the chances that the team can make the same kind of rushing attacks as last season are slim. That’s why experts predict a win for the Bearcats 41-20.

Indiana State

Indiana State will be pitting themselves against the Bearcats again on September 11. This game is considered by many to be an uneven match as the Bearcats out-power their opponents in it and the game will probably have a quick ending.

Last season, the Sycamores came up with a score of 1-10. The only time their defense was slightly effective was against Louisiana who eventually licked them 30-10. Their match with the Bearcats is expected to be an easy kill for Cincinnati. Luckily it is also expected to be an early kill.

North Carolina State

Cincinnati battles North Carolina on September 16. The score of NC in last seasons non-conference was 57. However, at home, their record stood at 5-3. The team has power offensive tactics and an equally powerful unit. They should have worked hard on their defenses for this season. Otherwise they are bound to cave in before the onrush of the Bearcats.

Victory is foreseen for Cincinnati 45-24

Oklahoma

Oklahoma will be playing opposite the Bearcats on September 25. Oklahoma has developed a very fast attack tactic. On the opposite side, the Bearcats are known for their strong and well coordinated defense. The match between these two members of the top 20 list will be more or less even.

Oklahoma has built plenty of muscle into its present team in spite of the fact that they are missing quarterback Sam Bradford. They are definitely going to try for a comeback after doing so badly in the previous season.

Cincinnati will enjoy a little edge at home.

Predictions favor Cincinnati to win 31-27 but with those statistics, the tables may be easily turned.

Miami

On the last day of the non-conference games Cincinnati plays Miami. This is on October 9. A 120-year old rivalry exists between the two schools who have annually fought the Battle for the Victory Bell. Undoubtedly that is one of the oldest grudge games in the US.

Cincinnati has defeated Miami for four successive times. In the past years, Miami hasn’t been very motivated. If the situation doesn’t change this season, Miami is headed for its fifth consecutive defeat.

The Bearcats normally make a quick business of their matches with Miami. Game play reaches about halftime in home games.

If the forecasts are proven accurate, the Bearcats stand to better their score in these seasons non-conference games. However, they still have to perform consistently in the conference games to up their overall score.

In 1910 it joined the Ohio Conference with whom it stayed until 1924. In 9 of those15 years they registered more losses than wins. In 1925 the team joined the Buckeye Conference. They stayed there until 1935. In three of those eleven years, their record shows over-all losses. From 1936 to 1946 the team once more became independent. In three of those eleven years they lost in the over-all

In 1947 they joined the Mid-American Conference with whom they played until 1952. In that span of time they registered one loss. From 1953 to 1956 the team once more became independent. They won in two of those years. From 1957 to 1969 they played in the Missouri Valley Conference and lost in 5 of the years. From 1970 to 1995, they played independently, losing in fourteen of those years. They did 9 years with Conference USA from 1996 to 2004 and lost in 3 of those 9 years. From 2005 until the present they have played in the Big East Conference.

Eleven conference titles have been won by the team since 1933. In 1947, they first participated in Bowl games. They played a total of 12, emerging victorious in six of them. They have also played in several NCAA tournaments. In these games they came out thrice in third place and twice as champions. The two winning years are 1961 and 1962. during both of those years their coach was Ed Jucker.

As part of its tradition for being competitive, yearly, the team engages in competitions for rivalry trophies. They compete with the Louisville Cardinals for the Keg of Nails rivalry trophy. Another competition is held against the Pittsburgh Panthers. This time the prize is the River City rivalry trophy. Finally they compete against the Miami RedHawks for possession of the Victory Bell trophy.

The team owes its name to one of their 1914 fullbacks names Leonard Baehr. In that game they were playing against the UK Wildcats. One of the cheer leaders rallied the team by shouting that if the enemy had a Wildcat, they had a Baehrcat. In time the spelling became ‘Bearcat.’

Currently, the Bearcats have a new coach, Butch Jones. The previous coach seemed to have done less than satisfactorily for the team. Initially, the playing style of Jones met with success and hopes are high that the he will lead the team on to ‘rewrite’ history. Among the players on which the hopes of Bearcats fans are pinned are Armon Binns, DJ Woods and Vidal Hazelton.

In fact, they’re so good that they’re estimated to be worth more than $2 billion. They’re even known as America’s Team, thanks to their great quality of talent and teamwork. Their success has undoubtedly contributed to their ability to build up a base of fans not just in Texas, but over the entire world.

The induction of the Cowboys into the NFL happened in 1960. They proved themselves as a winning team shortly after this and went on to become one of the top NFL teams because they were able to win one game after another. Ever since being brought into the pros, they’ve managed to win five Super Bowls gotten through 20 winning seasons in a row. This was an NFL record.

Throughout its time in the NFL, Dallas has also been in 14 championship games, which is beyond what any other team in the NFL has seen. They’ve also been in an entire eight Super Bowls, and are rated by fans and enthusiasts – and of course the NFL – as one of the best pro teams of all time.

When it comes right down to it, it’s not just their luck that’s boosted the team to success. Players such as Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, and Michael Irvin have made the team what it is today. These players are not only known for their time with the Cowboys, but also for their contribution to pro football overall.

The Cowboys have had so many fantastic players that they created a ring of honor which puts top players and contributors to the team’s success in their own honorary circle. This means coaches and enthusiasts who’ve made donations of some kind.

The Cowboys were not actually as successful in their early years, but in 1980, they accrued players like Aikman as quarterback. From then on, he along with other star players made Cowboys history. This made for a big overhaul of the team’s talent. The Cowboys rebuilt their whole lineup. While some interpersonal conflicts and problems did come into play in the Cowboys rebuilding, they were able to make it past these problems and went on from there to make their place in NFL history.

Their logo, the lone star against a blue background, is a representation of Texas’ own home logo. The star is white. This represents the team’s power and ability to overcome challenges, which is another representation of their integrity as a team, and what has made them so successful over the course of history.

Although they didn’t originally have their own stadium, the Cowboys now play in their own stadium in Texas. They did play in several different stadiums for home games but finally got their own not that long ago. They have truly taken their place in football history and they are indeed America’s Team. These players are symbolic of the characteristics that make pro football what it is, and their team spirit has never been broken.

The most popular sport in the United States of America that is both watched and played is American football. One of the surprising things about American football is that it is not only watched in the States. There is a large crowd that is known to watch to game on a global scale. Looking at the league itself, there are a large number of teams that participate from every state. One that is known to be quite popular amongst the fans is the New England Patriots.

The New England Patriots are commonly referred as the Pats which is their fan nickname. They are a professional team that plays in the NFL. The team is currently based in the Greater Boston area. The New England Patriots is currently part of the East Division of the AFC (American Football Conference). The team was initially known by the name of Boston Patriots. The team changed their name to the New England Patriots after they relocated to Foxborough. This move took place in the year 1971.

The Pats played their very first season as early as 1959. The team has been around for quite a long time which is why they have been more successful in comparison to other state teams. The coaching department for the New England Patriots has been exceptional. It is for this very reason that the Pats have been able to win a lot of silverware since their existence. Many people are awaiting a highly anticipated season in the next coming months.

One thing that makes the New England Patriots stand out from the other teams is the logo that they have. The logo is quite unique and stylish which makes it stand out from the rest. The current logo is a face of a man with hair that has been imitated to look like a flag. The colors of the logo include red, white and blue. The logo is mainly located on the helmet that is worn during the games.

The home kit for the Pats is quite appealing. The top jersey is nautical blue in color. This is contrasted with new century silver shorts. The player number is found on the front region of the jersey regardless of the kit that is worn. The colors of the numbers are known to vary depending on which kit is worn.

The away kit on the other hand is slightly different. The jersey is white with blue numbers on the front region; similar to the home jersey. The shorts on the other hand are nautical blue with a white lining on the side.

The third uniform is an alternative kit that is hardly ever used. This uniform is known to have a red jersey with white shorts. The helmet for the alternative kit is also different from both the home and away kit. The helmet is also known to be white.

One of the recent advancements that have been seen by the New England Patriots is their new official website.

Football in the City of Iowa started out as a club sport in 1872. It eventually developed into an intercollegiate game in 1882. After six years, the first officially recognized football team of the University of Iowa was born. The original team was invited to play in the Western Football Conference on account of the prowess of its team members. This is also called the Big Ten Conference. After one year the performance of the team was outstanding and they were made to share in the Western Conference title.

The team’s reputation achieved national importance in the 1920’s. Under the guidance of coach Howard Jones, the team scored consecutive victories. In 1939, the team’s reputation became even more impressive when they scored upset wins during that season. They missed the Big Ten title by one point but Nile Kinnick, their MVP (Most Valuable Player) was awarded many distinctions, one of which was the coveted Heisman Trophy for the year.

Coach Forest Evashevski joined their ranks in 1952. Under his tutelage, from 1955 to 1960, the team managed getting to top five of national football rating four times. Their other achievements include winning the Rose Bowl two times. They also won the 1958 FWAA national games. After that season came nineteen years of losses. The trend was only reversed by the hiring of coach Hayden Fry. This was in 1979. Ever since then, the Hawkeyes have had their share of the winnings.

They started out by winning three Big Ten titles and an equivalent number of Rose Bowl appearances. They were able to enter the 25 best list after a season three times. They got 8th place in 2002. In 2008 they were in position 20. However in 2009 they went up to the seventh place.

Ever since its creation, the Iowa Hawkeyes has played in a thousand games. Of these games, 24 were bowl games.

Many of its team members have shown exceptional skill and have been given distinctions. A number of players have been inducted into different Halls of Fame. Among these are included the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Canadian football Hall of Fame and the College football Hall of Fame among others. In their individual capacity, some of their members have been given awards like the Outland Trophy, the Davy O’brien Award, the Heisman Trophy and the Doak Walker Award. 92 of them have been nominated first team or second team All-Americans.

The Big Ten Most Valuable Player Awards have been given to ten of their members. Many of them have proceeded to become NFL head coaches or Division I college coaches.

Two members deserve notice. These are Nile Kinnick and Kile Jones. Nile is distinguished for winning the only Heisman Trophy ever awarded to the any team member. Kile is the first Afro-American to receive in 1955 the Outland Award.

The team’s name is from their mascot Hierky the Hawk whose plumes are black and gold. Hierky was created in 1948 but was not publicly depicted until 1959.

The home stadium of the team is found on campus. It was formerly the Iowa stadium but in 1972 was renamed the Kinnick stadium honoring Nile Kinnick.
