Tampa Bay Buccaneers Looking Sad

No one really knew what to make of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2009 NFL season. Would they continue to improve on their winning season or would they head in the opposite direction?

The Bucs best season since winning the Super Bowl came in 05′ when they finished 11-5 but lost to the Washington Redskins in the first round. Tampa Bays offense in 09′ is abysmal scoring barely- points per game.

The old saying is that if you have two quarterbacks you have no quarterbacks – that is the case with the Bucs. Byron Leftwich and Josh Johnson are average QB’s at best, no much more.

The defense didn’t change much. They’re one of the worst units in the league and they should have spent a bit more on balancing out the squad, not just improving the offense.

Head coach Raheem Morris, at 33 years old, is one of the youngest head coaches in football. Some might believe that is too young but to save money teams will spend less on a young coach rather then pay the high price tag for a coach with Super Bowl wins. Head coach Mike Tomlin is the youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl, he was just 36 years old.

The main WR on the Bucs is Kellen Winslow – who in his best year in 07′ caught for over 1,000 yards with 5 touchdowns for the Cleveland Browns.

QB Josh Johnson has been named the started of the Bucs – while it’s too early to say what he is made of – if the Bucs were confident in his abilities he would have been named the starter over Leftwich to begin with.

An 0-3 start would be far from ideal for Tampa Bay, but with a game against the Giants, it may be in the cards.
